) INDEPENDENCE FLAGPOLE

👉The Independence Flagpole- or the Philippine National Flagpole is a 45.72 m 150.0 ft flagpole located
near the Rizal Monument in Rizal Park in Manila, Philippines.

👉It is the highest flagpole- in the country. Did you know tourists that the flagpole was damaged by a
typhoon in 1995 and was never restored to its 150 ft height since then

👉.and was reduced- to 32 meters or 105 feet. It is where the Philippine flag was hosted when the
country gained its full independence from foreign forces Fourth of July in 1946.

👉The flagpole renovation - was proposed in 2011 as one of the commemorative projects of the
National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), an attached agency of the Department of Tourism
(DOT), for the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal.

👉 The goal of the project- is to restore the Independence Flagpole to its original height and reassert its
importance in Philippine history.

👉It symbolizes patriotism,- love of country and sense of nationhood and embodies the aspirations and
sentiments of the Filipino people in their unceasing quest for independence. It stands as instrument of
unity that binds the Filipino people
19. Fort Santiago Rizal Cage

- The Rizal Shrine, also known as the Museo ni José Rizal Fort Santiago . It is a museum dedicated to the
lifework of José Rizal.It is located on Santa Clara Street, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines.
Fort Santiago served as barracks for Spanish artillery soldiers during Spain's colonization of the islands.
The museum is located in the building where Rizal spent his final night and hid his famous poem Mi
último adiós (My Last Farewell) in an oil lamp later given to his sister, Trinidad. The shrine is home to
various memorabilia such as the shells he collected in Dapitan, books, manuscripts and artwork. The fort
is one of the most important historical sites in Manila. Several lives were lost in its prisons during the
Spanish Empire and World War II. José Rizal, one of the Philippine national heroes, was imprisoned here
before his execution in 1896. The Rizal Shrine museum displays memorabilia of the hero in their
collection and the fort features, embedded onto the ground in bronze, his footsteps representing his
final walk from his cell to the location of the actual execution.

The Rizal Monument- is a memorial in Rizal Park in Manila, Philippines built to commemorate the
executed Filipino nationalist, José Rizal. The monument consists of a standing bronze sculpture of Rizal,
with an obelisk, set on a stone base within which his remains are interred, holding his 2 famous novels
"El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere". A plaque on the pedestal's front reads: "To the memory of José
Rizal, patriot and martyr, executed on Bagumbayan Field December Thirtieth 1896. This monument is
dedicated by the people of the Philippine Islands."The Rizal Monument was planned and constructed
during the American colonial period of the Philippines in the early 20th century. The Rizal Monument is
guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by honor guard sentries standing stiffly to attention. The old
park yet the most stunning moment in the heart of Manila. This is one of the most important historic
places in the Philippines. Rizal was really important for the history of the country and he is being
remembered for his heroic death.
