Reasons why opted to work as an OFW The reason why I opted to work as an OFW is
that for financial needs of our family. My
husband and I are separated that’s why I need to
work and get an income that is suitable for our
needs, especially the needs of my children. I
decide to work as an OFW although it is hard to
be tear apart from my family because for me it is
a great opportunity to get higher income from
other country than my own nation.
Challenges encountered as an OFW Being an OFW is really hard. You need to work
really hard and you don’t have a time to take care
of your own. When you are an OFW your health
didn’t matter anymore.

VIII. SELF EVALUATION:

Why Philippines and Thailand were considered The Philippine and Thailand economy is often

achieved by the rich, high tech, industrialized,

income per resident. Developed countries have
advanced technological infrastructure and have
diverse industrial and service sectors.
Differentiate unemployment and Unemployment is when person actively looking
underemployment? for a job but experience an extended period
without getting hired. However, underemployed
employees may work several jobs to make
enough money for their living expenses.

1. How does the population boom affect the country’s transportation systems and housing markets?

Population boom leads to a changing demand for housing and will lead greater pressure on public
transport infrastructure. Population growth, and particularly the growth in number of households, leads
to a growth in the number of house hold, leads to a growth of housing demands. In behalf of
transportation, residents of big cities will expect public transport that is past, efficient, affordable, safe
and environmentally friendly. Population growth increases density and together with rural-urban
migration, creates higher urban agglomeration.

2. What attributes of a global city does Metro Manila reflect?

The Metro Manila has become an emerging global city. In almost every corner of the city, there are new
structures on the rise as it gradually transforms into a hyperactive mega city. High-end Casinos and first -
rate entertainment and leisure outlets, global brands have come to manila to provide the best retail and
dining options. The best of the east and west can be found in the metropolis, but the cost of living is
much lowered compared to other mega cities in the world.

3. What are the positive and negatives impact of the labor export policy to the Philippines?

The positive impacts of labor export policies are well known- high foreign exchange reserves, positive
balance of payments, education and small skill enterprises by families receiving remittances, and
improved knowledge and skills by OFWs returning home. Asides from positive impacts of labor export
policy to the Philippines there are also negatives impact occur such as the neglect of domestic
production and poor investments in infrastructure, agriculture, mining, export promotion, and social
development because of the easy availability of funds from remittances.
