I. Vocabulary for Writing Task 1 - Dạng bài miêu tả biểu đồ
Nếu bắt gặp dạng bài Biểu đồ trong bài thi của mình, các bạn cần nhớ những chi
tiết dưới đây.
- High/low values – giá trị cao nhất/thấp nhất
- Erratic values – giá trị bất thường
- Biggest increase/decrease – tăng giảm nhiều nhất
- Volatile data – các số liệu biến động
- Unchanging data – các số liệu không thay đổi
- Biggest majority/minority – phần lớn nhất/nhỏ nhất (biểu đồ tròn)
- Major trends – các xu hướng chính
- Notable exceptions – những trường hợp ngoại lệ đáng lưu ý
Các từ vựng cần thiết cho bài thi biểu đồ được chia thành các nhóm sau:
1. Từ vựng miêu tả xu hướng ( V - N):
Xu hướng tăng:
Rise - A rise
Increase - An increase
Grow - A growth
Climb - A climb
Go up - An upward trend
Xu hướng giảm:
Fall - A fall
Decrease - A decrease
Reduce - A reduction
Decline - A decline
Go down - A downward trend
Drop - A drop
Xu hướng ổn định:
Remain stable/ steady (v)
Stabilize (v)- Stability (n) Stay
stable/ unchanged (v)
Xu hướng dao động:
Fluctuate - A fluctuation
Be volatile - A volatility
Đạt mức cao nhất:

Hit the highest point (v)
Reach a peak (v)
Đạt mức thấp nhất: Hit the lowest point (v)
2. Từ vựng miêu tả tốc độ thay đổi (Adv - Adj):
Dramatically - Dramatic: Tốc độ thay đổi mạnh, ấn tương
Sharply - Sharp : Cực nhanh, rõ ràng
Enormously - Enormous: Cực lớn
Steeply - Steep: Tốc độ thay đổi lớn
Substantially - Substantial: Đáng kể
Considerably - Considerate: Tốc độ thay đổi nhiều
Significantly - Significant: Nhiều
Rapidly - Rapid: Nhanh
Moderately - Moderate: Bình thường
Gradually - Gradual: Tốc độ thay đổi từ từ
Slightly - Slight: Nnhẹ, không đáng kể
Marginally - Marginal: Tốc độ thay đổi chậm, nhỏ
Chú ý thêm các giới từ sử dụng:

- Dùng giới từ “to” khi mô tả sự thay đổi đến mức nào đó Ví dụ: In 2018, the rate
of unemployment rose to 10%
- Dùng giới từ “by” khi mô tả sự thay đổi một khoảng nào đó
Ví dụ: In 2009, the rate of unemployment fell by 2% (from 10% to 8%)
- Dùng giới từ “with” để mô tả phần trăm, số lượng chiếm được
Ví dụ: He won’t the election with 52% of the vote
- Dùng giới từ “at” để thêm con số vào cuối câu
Ví dụ: Unemployment reached its highest point in 2008, at 10%.
II. Vocabulary for Writing Task 1 - Dạng bài miêu tả bản đồ
1. Miêu tả sự thay đổi tổng quan
Trong phần tổng quan, khi viết về sự thay đổi ta thường dùng thì Hiện Tại Hoàn
Thành và dạng Bị Động của thì này để mô tả.
Các cụm từ chỉ thời gian được sử dụng như sau:
- Over the 20 year period....: Trong khoảng thời gian (20 năm)
- From 1990 to 2000....: Từ năm (1999) đến năm (2000)

- Over the years...: Qua nhiều năm
- In the last 10 years...: Trong vòng (10) năm qua - In the years after 1990...:
Trong những năm (1999) Các mẫu câu viết tổng quan:
- Over the period, the area witnessed dramatic changes.
- From 1995 to 2005, the city center saw spectacular developments.
- The village changed considerably over the time period.
- During the 10 year period, the industrial area was totally transformed.
- Over the past 20 years, the residential area was totally reconstructed.
- Over the time period, the old docks were totally redeveloped.
- Between 1995 and 2005, the old houses were rebuilt.
- The central business district was completely modernized during the time
period
2. Miêu tả sự thay đổi cụ thể
Các từ miêu tả sự mở rộng:
- Enlarged
- Expanded

- Made bigger

Các từ miêu tả sự chuyển đổi
- Demolished
- Knocked down
- Pulled down
- Flattened
- Removed

- Cleared (tree, forest)
- Cut down (tree, forest)
- Chopped dowwn (tree, forest)
- Các từ miêu tả sự thêm vào:
- Constructed

Từ miêu tả sự thay đổi:

Những cụm từ chỉ phương hướng:
