You will be Part 1: Letter to the supplier

required to
complete
Your task Part 1: Letter the supplier

You are the site manager on Bradley Construction’s latest building project.

Upon your arrival to the worksite, you immediately notice:

 Bricks, timber frames, glass windows and roofing materials have all been
delivered
 The above materials have all been ‘dumped’ onsite blocking access to the site
 All glass windows have been broken as they are lying on the ground
 Half a pallet of bricks are chipped and cracked
 Timber and cast iron materials have been left in the rain

You investigate the issue further and determine that there is no consistent system
for the inspecting of delivered materials and reporting defects. The absence of this
quality system has already cost the business $500,000 on this project.

During a worksite meeting, Alex raised an important issue.

“The required amount of sand is never delivered as it is transported in an uncovered

vehicle – besides the incorrect amount being delivered you realise you are being
$100 per cubic metre and only 2/3 is actually delivered.”

Write a letter to Portsea Building Supplies, the sand supplier, regarding your
findings, potential issues, how much the issues are costing the business and
recommendations to eliminate these issues in the future.

Subject: Letter of Inquiry for Raw Material

Dear (Sir/Madam)

I would like to inform you that I want to buy raw materials from your
store. I am writing this to inquire about the availability of raw materials.

We all know that the raw material is the base of the industry. If the base is
strong, we will automatically get a higher yield. I learned that you never
betrayed your customers as customer satisfaction is your primary focus.

The aspects on which I would require information about the raw

material are as follows:

1. The material is pure or not

2. The cost of the material
3. Warranty period
4. Proper function
5. Safety measurement; has any toxic effect or not
6. Legal information
7. Weight
I would also like to know your delivery system and mode of payment. If
you can send me samples of raw materials, I can test them before
deciding. I have confidence in your commitment.
