1.

Can the majority of Filipinos be considered part of what McLuhan calls as the “global
village”? Why or why not?
 I think the majority of Filipinos can be considered as part of what McLuhan calls
as the global village because, I believe that even if our country is classified as
third world countries, we are part of it. Why? Because nowadays if someone
posted an article even if that article is not verified or not proven, a lot of people
will also share it to their respective social media accounts and talk about their
thoughts about it. Or if someone announced a good or bad news bunch of people
will eventually see it and share it to everybody in every opportunity they get.
2. Is the global village still an imagined community? Why or why not?
 Yes, because with that, we can easily know more information to those things we
didn’t know about. If only people will become more responsible for their thoughts
and action about the things that they spread, and not get easily swayed by their
emotions from what they have reed, so yes. I think global village is still an
imagined country.
3. Watch the video about the 2010 Quirino Grandstand Hostage Crisis and write a one-paragraph
reaction on the role of media in a country like the Philippines. Refer to the link below.
 As I watched the video, the media indeed violate the broadcast code as the
hostage taker can know the positioning of the police or the swat team that time
that can result to failure of rescuing those hostage victims and the management or
those media conducted a live news report should now that they should not have
done that because it may cause or lead to worst scenarios since, it gives an
advantage to the hostage taker the plans of the rescue team. But even though they
did that, we can’t deny the fact that it gives us information and to know the what
is the reason of the hostage crisis in Quirino Grandstand last 2010.
4. Give a specific example of an integration of cultures or re-appropriation, like parodies, foreign

 Some of the cultural intergration shows that is dubbed to local Filipino language
are some shows in Korea, Taiwan, China and many more, one of that is the
Korean telenovela entitled, “Goblin” and “My Girlfriend is a gumiho” some songs
that is translated to local filipino language is the song entitled, “Dance with my
