Ralph Canta Pagangpang BSA 2-A Module 4 answer

Activity #1

Observe and participate in any interaction at home or in other settings. State the topic(s) of the
interaction and identify which Speech Context the interaction illustrates. Note the Verbal and Nonverbal
Communication used by the participants within that Speech Context.

Last night I was cooking dinner with my sister in the kitchen. While I was busy chopping the onions she
suddenly brought up an embarrassing memory of mine. Out of annoyance I turned to her and gave her a
contemptuous smirk. She then shift the topic when she realized I got mad. Out of a whim I cracked a
joke only to change the vibe but she just plastered a cold smile. Up until now we still haven’t talk. The
speech that is used in the conversation I think was both interpersonal and intrapersonal. Interpersonal
because we are obviously exchanging message through verbal and non- verbal. Intrapersonal in the
other hand because I actually speculate answers to my mind if was just overacting.

Activity #2

Answer the following guide questions before proceeding to the lesson:

1. How will you start a conversation to the following:

Parents – I usually ask my parents how they are doing before diving into a deep conversation.

Friend – I usually call them by their respective nick names when I see them. There are also times that we
just communicate through our eyes or through gestures.

Teacher – I usually greet them to show courtesy before having conversation with them.

2. What have you observed with the utterances you have just made?

Parents – I felt comfortable, safe and it’s giving me a sense of intimacy when I talk to my parents.

Friend – I don’t have to mind what I am going to say I just say it straightforwardly. I am more
comfortable I don’t have to strain my voice just to sound formal.

Teacher - my utterances when talking to a teacher is on point and stilted. I can’t throw random topic
and I feel intimidated sometimes.

3. List/ enumerate the difference/s with the manner of utterances when talking to the different persona
mentioned above.

The differences is that when I talk to my parents I feel the sense of intimacy, Causality when I am with
friends, and formality when talking to teachers.
