QUESTIONS

1. How is the relationship between leadership style and organizational culture in oil and gas
companies in Indonesia? Explain the factors that determine the leadership style of the
organizational culture of Oil and Gas in Indonesia and give relevant examples (LO3; weight
20%).

2. Leadership plays critical role in the achievement of goals through the direction. Successful
leaders are people who can understand people's motivations and participation by combining
individual needs and interests of individuals with group goals. Employees have the
opportunity to learn and grow without creating anarchy. Explain how leaders ensure the
needs of the employees and team are effectively met without causing resentment (LO2:
weight 20%)

3. One of the biggest challenges of leaders is to use their strengths in an effective way to manage
conflict. Conflict pervades the lives of all groups. Sometimes, conflict benefits the group and
its members by providing new information and helping members to see new ways of thinking
about their work. Conflict most of the time creates uncomfortable situation which can be

interpreted as a personality attack, even if it benefits the quality of group decision-making.
What challenge does the team leader face in exercising power in an effective and equitable
manner? (LO3; weight 20%).

4. Explain why leadership and organizational climate are frequently discussed in relation to the
contribution of organizational climate and the role of leadership to create the desired
organizational climate. Give relevant examples (LO3; weight 20%)

5. Results of a survey of 1,000 Ethics, Compliance and HR professionals at the US and UK


firms shows that sexual harassment is identified as a form of ethical violation that must be
addressed proactively. The biggest challenge is how to encourage employees to report
violations (harassment) that can be resolved specifically so that the organizational culture
can be adhered. A survey in America reports that the Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) estimates that 75% of all incidents of harassment in the workplace go unreported.
Why is ethics become the main reason for people not to report the sexual harassment? What
can be done so that ethics in the organization will contribute to improve these conditions?
