Assalamualaikum, my name is Noraini binti aziz from group dece 36.

Today my purpose in making this video is to complete my module

assignment 2. I have chosen ONE of the theories related to Child
Development that I learn in chapter 2 that is THEORIES OF CHILD
DEVELOPMENT in subject Child Development. I choose Albert
Bandura’s Theory to explain an understanding of my chosen theory.

First and foremost, I will explains about what I understand at the

Albert Bandura’s Theory. Albert Bandura's theory is called Social
Cognitive Theory. The encompassing idea behind it is that children
learn by observing the people around them, by being modeled to,
and by imitating that modeling.

Social learning theory, proposed by Albert Bandura, emphasizes the

importance of observing, modelling, and imitating the behaviors,
attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. Social learning theory
considers how both environmental and cognitive factors interact to
influence human learning and behavior.

Bandura has done a great deal of work on social learning throughout

his career and is famous for his "Social Learning Theory" which he
has recently renamed, "Social Cognitive Theory". Albert Bandura
focuses on the acquisition of behaviors. He believes that people
acquire behaviors through the observation of others, then imitate
what they have observed. Several studies involving television
commercials and videos containing violent scenes have supported
this theory of modeling. Bandura has conducted many studies
involving observational learning, or modeling.

The modeling process includes several steps:

First is Attention process. Attention is In order for an individual to

learn anything, he or she must pay attention to the features of the
modeled behavior. Many factors contribute to the amount of
attention one pays to the modeled activities, such as the
characteristics of both the observer and the person being observed
and competing stimuli. For example of attention process is while in
classroom a teacher do the demonstration of hand washing
Second is Retention process. Retention is If an individual is to be
influenced by observing behaviors he or she needs to remember the
activities that were modelled at one time or another. Imagery and
language aid in this process of retaining information. Humans store
the behaviours they observe in the form of mental images or verbal
descriptions, and are then able to recall the image or description
later to reproduce the activity with their own behaviour. For
example of retention process is a teacher must always do the
demonstration or put the handwashing poster near the sink

Third is Reproduction process. Reproduction is involves converting

symbolic representations into appropriate actions. Behavioural
reproduction is accomplished by organizing one's own responses in
accordance with the modelled pattern. A person's ability to
reproduce a behaviour improves with practice. Example of
reproduction process is we can ask children to do by themselves
and must guide them if possible

Fourth is Motivation process. Motivation is to imitate behaviour, the

person must have some motivating factor behind it, such as
incentives that a person envisions. These imagined incentives act
as reinforces. Negative reinforces discourage the continuation of
the modelled activity. For example of motivation process is praise
the children and give reward to them when they success in doing
themselves

Lastly,

In conclusion, humans will follow the four steps of effective

modeling proposed in Albert Bandura’s Theory that is First is
Attention, Second is Retention, Third is Reproduction and Fourth is
motivation. Observational theory (1970) in order to learn various
things through imitation (such as violent behaviors) and observation
of a behavior in which they learn to mimic themselves.

that's all for my video this time. thank you so much
