Report on Road Safety Awareness Programmes

1. Organized Road Safety Awareness Rally by NSS Volunteers on 11.01.2021


National Service Scheme (NSS) Volunteers of JMJ College for Women (A), Tenali organized a
rally for road safety on 11th January, 2021 to impart traffic road safety information to all people.
At the beginning of the Rally, the Principal Dr.Sr.Shiny K.P addressed the students about the
road safety rules. She said that every citizen of our country should follow the road safety rules
like that while driving a car seat belt should be worn and helmet while riding a two wheeler. The
Principal, Vice-Principal and Ms.K.Aruna Sujatha, NSS Programme Officer participated in the
rally. The rally started from JMJ College for Women (A), Tenali and walked in the main roads of
Chenchupet, Bose road and Angalakuduru. At the rally, the students were walking and chanting
slogans. The students spread awareness about road safety and participated actively in the event.

2. Conducted Road Safety Awareness Program to the Preschool Children on


12-01-2021

The Department of Home Science organized a Road Safety awareness Programme for
Preschool children in Anganwadi Center at Sultanabad. At the request of the Management,
the children 3 to 6 years old were gathered in Anganwadi Center and they were taught to
recognize the road signs and the importance of proper traffic behavior like Using Sidewalks, Stop,
Look and Cross, not to run on the roads, Staying Safe inside the moving Vehicle etc. The staff
and students enhanced children’s knowledge of traffic rules and their ecological consciousness.
The following activities were carried out by involving the Children for better
understanding of the Concept:
1. Painting three signals Green, Red and Yellow
2. Guessing game to hear the sounds on the street and tell what it is. The children
participated in the programme actively.

3. Road Safety Awareness Talk for all Degree students by Mrs. Miriam on 13-
01-2021
The Department of Economics organized the Road Safety Awareness Talk for all
Degree students by showing Models and charts on Road Safety Signs on 11th January 2021 at
JMJ College Auditorium. The resource person Mrs. Miriam, Head of the Dept.of Economics
addressed the students and said that road safety awareness is imperative in averting road
accidents. The students very specially who are studying in Higher education institutions neglects
traffic rules, over speeding and use of defective vehicles leads to death and serious injuries. The
BA students presented various charts and models to convey the traffic rules and how the young
College going students vulnerable while driving two wheelers because of their young age,
adventurous nature and risky behavior. The programme ended successfully with national anthem
at12.30 P.M.
4. organized a Skit competition on Traffic Rules & Road Safety by Cultural
Committee on 14-01-2021
The Cultural Committee of JMJ College for Women (A), Tenali organized a Skit
Competition on Traffic Rules and Road Safety in Mini Auditorium on 9th January 2021 inorder
to sensitize the students about road safety and traffic rules. The Convener Dr. G. Jyothi Olivia
and the members Ms. E. Pranavi and Ms. J. Saroja Kumari motivated the students to participate
in the competition. Six teams were participated and the message of following traffic rules was
presented by the students. The Principal congratulated the students for their lively participation
and for giving beautiful message to the students. She distributed prizes to the winners. The
winners are as follows:
