Galaw Pilipinas is a four-minute calisthenics routine that shall contribute to the 60 minutes of
moderate to vigorous physical activity.
The Department of Education formally launched the Galaw Pilipinas as a national calisthenics
exercise program which draws inspiration from Philippine folk dance, festival movements and arnis
stances.
STEP 1: PAGSUKO (Inhale/Exhale)
a. Stand with feet slightly apart and hands placed in praying position
b. In 4 counts, slowly raise the hand above your head. Spread them up to shoulder level in another 4
counts.
c. In 4 counts, raise your hands back to its position (above the head). Bring them down in a praying position
in another 4 counts.

STEP 2: MARCH AND STEP (RIGODON ROYALE)


a. In 16 counts, perform a marching step in place.
b. Perform a marching step forward starting with your right foot, 4 counts. In another 4 counts, march
backward with your left foot first. Perform (b) twice

STEP 3: HAPAY (AN MAROL)


a. Foot work: In 4 counts, step Right foot forward (ct.1), close Left foot to Right (ct.2). Step Left foot
backward (ct.3), close Right foot to Left (ct.4). Repeat Twice
b. Hand movement: In a closed fist, raise both arms up in count 2 and put arms down in count 4. Repeat
twice
c. Repeat (a) and (b) starting with the Left foot.
B. Modelling/Demonstration

Activity 1. Perform Step 1 of the dance. Count as you execute the steps.

Continuation of the calisthenics dance Galaw Pilipinas.
STEP 4: KIWEL KIWEL (Walking and Clapping)
a. In 4 counts, walk forward starting with your right foot, clap hands in front head level on the fourth
count.
b. In another 4 counts, walk backwards starting with your left foot, clap hands in front chest level on the
fourth count.
c. Repeat (a) and (b)

STEP 5: SUBA AT SUG


a. a. Foot work: In 4 counts, step Right foot forward (ct.1), close Left foot to Right (ct.2). Step Left foot
backward (ct.3), close Right foot to Left (ct.4). Repeat Twice
b. Hand movement: Push hands, palms facing front in count 2, pull back to the chest count 3, and spread
arms to the side in count 4. Repeat twice
c. Repeat (a) and (b) starting with the Left foot.

STEP 6: ARNIS STRIKE


a. Strike or chop the right and left hand alternately across in front with palms open four times.
b. Legs are approximately two feet wide.
