I. -Christine Angelica F. Dacera Background

Summary of the Story

Christine Angelica Faba Dacera was a Filipino flight attendant. Dacera was 5’4″ and hailed from
Barangay San Isidro, General Santos City, Philippines. Christine Dacera was born in 1997 by
Jose Nestor Dacera and Sharon Rose Faba Dacera.

From 2008 to 2013, she attended The Heritage Academy of the Philippines in Barangay San
Isidro.In June 2013, she enrolled at the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao in Tugbok,
Davao City, Philippines. She joined the cheerleading squad. In February 2017, she was initiated
into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. In June 2017, she graduated cum laude from UP
Mindanao with a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies. From September 2017
to January 2019, she worked as a marketing associate at Gaisano Malls in various parts of
Mindanao including Davao, General Santos City, Tagum, Toril and Digos. She was Miss Silva
Davao 2017 first runnerup.On March 2, 2019, she competed at Mutya ng Davao 2019 at the
RMC Petro Gazz Arena in Davao City. She was one of the finalists along with We’Am Ahmed,
Regine Anillo, Yvonne Ortega, Julia Nicole Culaste, Jeriza Uy and Clydel June Tabacolde, who
won the title. In May 2019, she started working as a flight attendant at the Philippine Airlines
(PAL) subsidiary PAL Express, which is legally known as Air Philippines Corporation. From
Davao City, she moved to Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. On December 25, 2020, she
was with her friends Rommel Galido, Rey Englis, JP Dela Serna, John Paul Halili and Clark
Rapinan.

On December 28, 2020, she had her last flight as a PAL flight attendant. On December 31, 2020,
she called her mother, who was in General Santos City, to tell her she was going out to celebrate
New Year’s Eve with some friends and colleagues. In the afternoon, she, Galido, Englis, Dela
Serna and other homosexual male friends checked in at Room 2209 of City Garden Grand Hotel
in Makati City, Metro Manila. More homosexual men, who are friends of her friends, arrived.
They also interacted with other homosexual men who checked in at a nearby room, which is
Room 2207.

At 12:34 a.m. on January 1, 2021, while still in City Garden Grand Hotel, she had a video call
with her mother. Later that day, she was found unresponsive in an empty bathtub of the hotel
room. She was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the hotel’s security manager Peter
Paul Poningcos before rushing her to Makati Medical Clinic where she was pronounced dead.
Abrasions and hematomas were found on her legs and knees. The cause of her death was
declared ruptured aortic aneurysm. She died at the age of 23.

ll.- EVIDENCE

"PNP recovers evidence such as (specimens, garments, mobile phones) and will coordinate with
the NBI to complete and finalize and it will be able to finish the investigation. There was also no
semen found in victim’s body, based on the autopsy. Citing the medico-legal report, dela Fuente
said aneurysm was still Christine’s cause of death.

III- FINDINGS

Findings of the PNP

An autopsy was performed on the body of Dacera at Rizal Funeral Homes in Pasay City at 9am,
led by medico-legal officer Police Major Michael Nick Sarmiento.Post-mortem findings on the
incident, through a medico-legal report by the Southern Police District Crime Laboratory Office
which eventually circulated on social media, indicated that the cause of death was “consistent”
with what was previously reported as ruptured aortic aneurysm.

An aneurysm is common to senior citizens, but it may also be experienced by younger people
“due to other factors,” the report explained, even citing that aneurysms can be caused by
“increased blood pressure” as in the case of Dacera.

It also mentioned bruises on Dacera’s right hand, right thigh, knees, ankles, and right foot, and a
linear abrasion on her right thigh. Deep healed lacerations and abrasions were also reported
during the genital examination.The document also noted that Dacera was already embalmed prior
to the autopsy. Based on the available information on hand, the manner of death is classified as
natural death,” according to the PNP Crime Laboratory report.

Even without autopsy findings and a toxicology report, the Makati City police lodged provisional
charge of rape with homicide against the 11 men last Jan. 4. The Philippine
National Police (PNP) also declared the case closed with the “arrest, indictment, and
identification” of the suspects.

Halili, Galido and Dela Serna were detained after they surrendered to authorities.Makati City
police chief Colonel Harold Depositar believed that there was force inflicted on the flight
attendant’s body because of contusions in her leg, knees and abrasion in her thigh.

Investigators also said there was evidence that Dacera was sexually abused.Christine’s family
and legal counsel, however, stressed that the death certificate was incomplete. They believed that
aneurysm was triggered by assault.

The city prosecutor ordered the police to prove that Christine was actually raped and killed as
well as determine the actual cause of the victim’s death. Police were also ordered to submit DNA
analysis report, toxicology/chemical analysis, and the histopathology examination report to the
prosecutor.
III. FOUND BY LABORATORY

 Autopsy report by the PNP’s Major Michael Nick Sarmiento that Dacera had “ruptured
aortic aneurysm” or the tearing of the aorta – the largest blood vessel in the body that
runs through a person’s heart.
 Laceration
 DNA, Chemistry exams

- A DNA examination conducted on the underwear of Dacera found that only her DNA was
found. “No mixed DNA was observed”, stated the report made by Police Maj. Jasper Magana,
forensic DNA Analyst of PNP – CLO.

- A chemistry report containing 0.14 grams of “white crystalline on a sachet substance”

found at Room 2209 stated that it was not crystal meth, but sodium chloride or table salt.

- Results of the examination conducted by Police Maj. Ofelia Vallejo, forensicchemist of SPD –
CLO showed that the specimen did not contain methamphetamine hydrochloride “shabu”,
amphetamine – type stimulants cathinone, or benzylpiperazine, a party drug.

TOXICOLOGY FINDING

A toxicology analysis conducted on “two cotton swabs with brownish red stains” found at Room
2209 of the hotel found that those were positive for 4-fluoromethampetamine and
methamphetamine, which are stimulants that are illegal under the Comprehensive and Dangerous
Drugs Act of 2002.The examination was done by Maj. Hernand Donado, forensic chemist of
PNP-CLO. It was completed as early as Feb. 11 but was submitted only on Feb. 20.

V. ANALYZATION ABOUT THE CONNECTION OF THE PERSON IN THE CRIME

SCENE
The people mentioned above are those who were connected in the Dacera case
because they were the last men seen before Christine Dacera died. Christine, along with Rommel
Galido, Rey Ingles, Louie De Lima, John Pascual Dela Serna and Clark Jezreel Rapinan rented
Room 2209 at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City for their New Year’s Eve party. At
11 a.m., dela Serna was the first to check-in at the room. An hour later, Christine joined him.
They were later joined by Galido, Ingles, De Lima and Rapina later that night. The group started
binge drinking to welcome the New Year. Galido noticed Christine was drinking tequila and rum
coke. Gregorio De Guzman, Valentine Rosales, Mark Anthony Rosales, Jemmy Cunanan and
Eduard Madrid then joined Christine and her companions inside the hotel room. It was Galido
who invited the five new guests to the party. The man depicted pressed the button to order the
lift, before Ms Dacera leans in to kiss him multiple times. Valentine Rosales, 23, is accused of
being involved in her death.
VI. MY OWN OPINION OR CONCLUSION:
Base on my evaluation and my thorough analysis on the scenario I do believe that the case
of Ms. Dacera is not RAPE or Homicide. It is because the current findings explain that there is
no reliable evidence that will proved that a crime of rape happen that night. The medico legal
made by the PNP is a not accurate. Also, the recorded video of the CCTV of the hotel makes me
believe that Ms. Dacera is under the influence of intoxicating liquor in which this may lead her
unconscious and cause aneurysm. For me, I think there is no rape happened, it was her disease
that causes her death. All men on that party are educated and have their own family which makes
it impossible to do something wrong to the girl that they just met. As a man, if there was only
one girl on a party then she should be taking good care because I know that what ever happened
to her, we, all men are responsible for it. All I have to say is that what happened to Christine
Dacera is that it teaches us to be cautious when choosing our friends; there is nothing wrong with
having a gay or male best friend, However, since you are not like them, you cannot always trust
them; it is fine to be with them, but you must bring a girl from among your mates. There were 11
men in the Dacera event. And she is the only girl at the party, which is not just any party because
it's a special occasion for you to spend time with your family because it's the New Year. As an
individual most of us are sad if we do not spend New Year's and Christmas with our families;
they are extremely important to us on that celebration because it will come once in a year, you
can be with your friends in many celebrations and party, but you should know how to protect
yourself and put limitations on every action that you will do.

In addition, the medico-legal report is very important to know the reason of death. In which is
more important and will include forensic analysis like fingerprints, body fluids, and hair, and
documentary evidence like photographs and videos of the crime scene – With all the evidence
collected it should be classified accordingly to be useful and so that case will be resolve.
