Intrinsic motivation to learn comes from an internal force. Learners are intrinsically motivated
when learning is a goal in itself. It is connected with desire to learn and take part in some certain
activities because a person feels that they are attractive and pleasant, interesting and challenging. The
reward is the enjoyment of the activity itself or a feeling of competence in doing the task. Students who
have intrinsic motivation can gain knowledge from their mistakes.
Extrinsic motivation is when we are motivated to perform a behavior or engage in an activity
because we want to earn a reward or avoid punishment. You will engage in behavior not because you
enjoy it or because you find it satisfying, but because you expect to get something in return or avoid
something unpleasant.
