A. Build understanding of the terms compare and contrast
B. Identify similarities and differences among two subjects from the given selection
C. Demonstrate understanding of the lesson by visually representing information in a
Venn diagram
D. Appreciate the importance of conserving our environment in order to preserve wildlife
and natural resources

Compare- refers to the process of identifying what is alike or similarities between two things.
Contrast- refers to identifying the differences between two things.

Here are some signal words that may indicate that the text is written using the compare and contrast
organizational pattern.

Example1:( Give an apple and orange to the pupils and let them identify the similarities and
differences between the two fruits using Venn Diagram on the board.)

Apples and oranges are both fruits. They both have seeds inside of them. Each has a skin, but orange
skins are thick and easy to peel. Apple skins are thinner and do not peel easily. Oranges also contain more acid
than apples, but both are delicious.

Example 2: Aside from Venn Diagram, we can also use chart in contrasting two things. Read carefully
all the sentences about the similarities and differences between these two shelters and write them on the chart in
the appropriate column.

2. Only leaders will come in front and get the task and materials.

5. Go back to your seats quietly as soon as the task is done and leaders will post their work on
the board and explain it.

Search and print a fable “The Dove and the Ant”. Compare and contrast the two animals using Venn diagram.
Do it in a long-sized bond paper. Make your work neat and creative.
