Name some propaganda devices.

Compare- refers to the process of identifying what is alike or similarities between two things.
Contrast- refers to identifying the differences between two things.
Here are some signal words that may indicate that the text is written using the compare and contrast
organizational pattern.

Example1:( Give an apple and orange to the pupils and let them identify the similarities and
differences between the two fruits using Venn Diagram on the board.)
Apples and oranges are both fruits. They both have seeds inside of them. Each has a skin, but orange
skins are thick and easy to peel. Apple skins are thinner and do not peel easily. Oranges also contain more acid
than apples, but both are delicious.
Example 2: Aside from Venn Diagram, we can also use chart in contrasting two things. Read carefully
all the sentences about the similarities and differences between these two shelters and write them on the chart in
the appropriate column.

3. Generalization:
Let the students answer the following questions:
1. What do you mean by compare? Contrast?
2. What are those signal words in identifying similarities and differences between two
subjects?
4. Application:
Group work
The pupils will be given differentiated activities and follow the instructions given.
Directions: Tell wether each sentence is comparing two things, contrasting two things or both. Write the word
compare, contrast or both on each line.
VI. Assignment:
Search and print a fable “The Dove and the Ant”. Compare and contrast the two animals using Venn diagram.
Do it in a long-sized bond paper. Make your work neat and creative.
