 To sit with a baby. Babysitting is temporary care for a child while a parent is out.

 A person whose job is to take care of other people's children in her or his own home:

What does a Babysitter do?

 A babysitter may do a number of different tasks such as:


o Caring for a child for a few hours, usually in the evening when the child
is asleep for most of the time.
o Changing diapers
o Playing games
o Preparing meals
o Teaching the child to read or help with homework depending on the
agreement between parents and babysitter.
