Name : Angel May Borinaga Date: October 12, 2021 Grade Level: Grade 3

Time Frame:60 mins Topic: Three-Dimensional Object

Learning Competencies:
 Identify and describe three dimensional objects;
 Differentiate two dimensional and three-dimensional objects;
 Construct three dimensional objects using manipulatives; and
 Solve word problems involving three-dimensional objects

I. LESSON OBJECTIVES:
 Naming and describing three dimensional objects
 Cube
 Pyramid
 Cylinder
 Cone
 Rectangular Prism
 Sphere
 Identify face, edge and vertex of three-dimensional objects
 Compare two dimensional and three-dimensional objects
 Solve word problems
 Construct 3d shapes

a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance
1.Review
I am going to show you different shapes and I want
you to tell me what are the names of these shapes.
 Rectangle, Triangle, Circle and
Square

Say: Very Good!

These shapes are called (two-dimensional) shape
can be defined as a plane figure that can be drawn
on a flat surface. It has only two dimensions –
length and width, with no thickness or depth.
2. Motivation
 Yes, teacher!
Ask a question:
 Have you tried eating ice cream?
 Have you tried rolling a dice?
 Have you tried playing rubik’s cube?
 Have you tried play basket or soccer?
Say: So, can you name or identify their shape?  Circle, square, triangle
 Ice cream cone
 Dice
 Rubik’s cube
 Soccer and basket ball
So, today we will explore more with these objects.

B. Developmental Activities
1.Presentation
Present a picture or objects:
A.

What were your observations?  They are different/The same

Does the objects inside the box the same or
different?

2. Posing a problem
How can we determine if an object is a two
dimension or a three-dimension object?

3. Discussion

These shapes are 3D shapes. These are solids that

consist of 3 dimensions, namely - length, width, and
height.

Width- how wide an object is

Length- how long or short the object is
Height-how tall or short an object is

EXAMPLES:
CUBE PYRAMID

CYLINDER CONE
RECTANGULAR SPHERE
PRISM

Three-dimensional shapes have face, edge and

vertex.

Faces

 A face refers to any single flat or curved

surface of a solid object.
 3D shapes can have more than one face.

Edges
 An edge is a line segment on the
boundary joining one vertex (corner
point) to another.
 They serve as the junction of two faces.
Vertices

 A point where two or more lines meet is

called a vertex.
 It is a corner.
 The point of intersection of edges
denotes the vertices.

Identifying how many faces, edges, and vertices

does a three-dimensional have.

EXAMPLE:

CUBE

Face: 6
Edge: 12
Vertex:8
SPHERRE

Face:1
Edge: 0
Vertex:0

4. SEATWORK
Activity 1
Label the face, edge, and vertex of a pyramid.

EDGE FACE

Activity 2
Identify how many faces, edges, and vertices does
a rectangular prism have.

Face: _____ Face: 6

Edge: _____ Edge: 12
Vertex:_____ Vertex:8

6. INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY
“3D SHAPE NET”
Instructions: Make a 3D net using a colored paper.
Make sure to measure them accordingly to their
shape and length. You can choose and 3D shape you
like. Count how many faces, edges, and vertices do (Pupils will create the activity)
they have.

IV. EVALUATION:
