The teacher writes on the screen “Early to bed…” and tells the students that this is a
phrase from a proverb and asks them if they know the proverb. If students don’t know it, they
will quickly go online and find it. The teacher then writes it on the screen: EARLY TO BED
AND EARLY TO RISE MAKES A MAN HEALTHY, WEALTHY AND WISE, and elicits the
students to explain the proverb. The teacher announces the title of the lesson: HEALTH.
The teacher projects on the screen a set of images from the textbook and asks the students
to describe them and predict what the daily routines of the people in the pictures are. The teacher
asks the students to talk about their daily routine and asks them if they see any connection
between daily routine and health.
The teacher asks the students to work in groups and think about five important steps to
maintain a healthy lifestyle. Each group presents their conclusions.
The teacher tells the students that they are going to listen to a recording on the topic of
healthy lifestyle. The students get the link to an interactive worksheet where they have to listen
and choose the correct answers and while they listen they do the task individually.
The teacher asks the students what they think is wrong with the man’s intention of
joining the team and she asks them how they feel about their lifestyle and if there is anything
they would like to change about it and then she brings into discussion the question of
supplements used to enhance health. (possible questions: What do you think about supplements
and vitamins? Do they help when it comes to staying healthy? Is there a miraculous pill that
allows you to have any diet and still be healthy and fit ? Do you believe in diets?)
The students are asked to read the text on page 71 and do exercise 3c ( reading
comprehension)
