SHUNT CURRENT
VIII. CONCLUSION:
When a generator has two sets of field windings on each pole, it is said to be
compound-wound. In this type of DC generator, both the shunt and series windings produce
the field. The shunt field is stronger than the series field. A long shunt compound generator or
a short shunt compound generator are two types of compound-wound generators. In addition,
a long shunt compound generator's shunt field winding runs parallel to both the armature and
the series field winding.
and have a very small diifference since the is only one path of current flows as there is no
load connected in the system. However, if we supply a load to the system, the armature and
shunt current will be far different from each other. But if we add a load to the system, the
armature and shunt currents will diverge dramatically. Meanwhile, as the flux of the series
field aids the flux of the shunt field, the voltage in a commulatively compounded generator
that is directly proportional to the total flux is much higher than the voltage in a differentially
compounded generator. Moreover, it can be notice from the result that the relationship of the
shunt current and the terminal voltage is directly proportional. Wherein, as the terminal
voltage increases, the shunt current also increases.
