Part 1

Hue: ss A
Hoa: ss B
Hue: Good morning, welcome you to our office. How can I help you?
Hoa: Yeah, hello. I need your advice about my future job. I’m about to graduate from high school
and I’m looking for a stable job.
Hue: Ok, have a sit please. Let’s talk a little bit about yourself. Do you have any special interests?
Hoa: Oh yes. I’ve been passionate about reading books, some kinds like: news, story, and fictions.
I also love listening to some chill music at the same time I read them. Actually I love being inside
the house rather than going for outdoor activities. I started this hobby when I was 10 years old. I
often read books wherever and whenever I can.
Hue: So what kind of books do you often read?
Hoa: I read news, storybooks, fictions,.. and especially romantic novels.
Hue: That’s great. Do you have other hobbies besides reading?
Hoa: I think it’s music. Listening to music is a part of my life. The beauty of music is that it can be
incorporated with other hobbies. For instance, I love reading a good book, as chill music is
playing in the background. Actually I love being inside the house rather than going for outdoor
activities.
Hue: Alright, it seems like you are an introvert. And what do you think are your strong points?
Hoa: My friends say that I have an ability to write very well, and I am also quite good at
English. One more thing, I’m a determined person. When I set a goal, I will try my
best to reach it.
Hue: Wow, you have a lot of strengths. Another question for you, what are your biggest
disadvantages?
Hoa: Let me think. Actually, I always struggle with numbers and don’t have much experience
with data analytics.
Hue: Based on what you’ve just said, I’ve found a suitable job for you. What do you think about
being a translator?
Hoa: I never thought of being a translator. But it seems interesting. Do you mind telling me what
qualities are needed to be a good translator?
Hue: In my opinion, you have a lot of potential to become a translator. Your hobbies and
strengths have proved that. But, of course you need some more skills to have a successful career.
You should try to learn some foreign languages to make your work more flexible. Because you
know, a translator is the person who makes a strange language become readable.
Hoa: Thanks. And I have heard that a translator may have lots of pressure. Is it true?
Hue: Actually every job has its own pressure. So it depends on how you can manage it. Anyway,
this is my advice. Hope you will find your suitable job and be successful in the future. Thanks for
choosing our service.
Hoa: Thanks for your valuable advice. I’m really satisfied with your consultation. I will introduce
your agency to my friends later.

Part 2:

Focus on study
- Advantages: better results at school, good basic foundation, have
thorough knowledge, just only join clubs at school is enough, don’t need
to work, because club can bring experience
- Disadvantages: not any experience after graduation

Job + study
- Advantages: more practical experience(, lessen financial burden, (earn
extra money for life, independent of parents) , find more opportunities to
network( meet people from different backgrounds and with different
skills),
- Disadvantages: effect on the study,no extra benefits, health fatigue,
cannot balance between job and study → drop out of school for working
The most important priority for university life is study, not working, have
less free time, can be deceived
Some language function:
- give opinions
- compare, contrast
- give example
- study/ research
- turn-taking
- agree and disagree
- explain
Hoa: Hi, Hue? What are you doing? You look so haggard.
Hue: Hi Hoa. I spent all night finding some part-time jobs, but I’m still not satisfied with any
of them.
Hoa: You are seeking part-time jobs? We are university students and we’re supposed to put a
premium on study.
Hue: Hm, I don’t think so. Actually, a part-time job has many advantages.
Hoa: I don’t see any benefits of it. Personally, I take the view that its drawbacks probably
outweigh its good points. You can obviously see that the time you spend working can take
over the time for studying.
Hue: No, I really believe that if I can balance them, it will be Ok. For example, I can take just
2 hours for my job and spend the other time on my studies.
Hoa: You can’t do it because in our subject we have to confront with a lot of deadlines and
you may not have enough time for them. Attempting to manage other things while you are
studying could also indeed be fatigue.
Hue: You could be right. But if you just concentrate on your studies and don’t get any job, you
will not gain any real experience after your graduation. No company will employ a person
without any experience, you have to know it.
Hoa: I take your point but when you focus on studying, you will get good marks and it’s a key
component when you apply for a job.
Hue: You’re wrong! Experience is much more important in comparison with theory. How can
you get any experience not by taking a job?
Hoa: You know that our school has many clubs, right? In my personal experience I have
participated in some clubs, and they give me many opportunities to pick up some practical
skills and also widen my social relationships.
Hue: Well, when you possess a part-time job, you can also have a wide circle of friends.
Hoa: Yeah, maybe. But I still don’t appreciate it.
Hue: Hm, experience is just a small benefit of a part time job. Actually I also want to earn
some money for my university life. I don’t want to depend so much on my parents.
Hoa: Finance is always a problem, ha?
Hue: Exactly. To me, working is an interesting experience. Maybe when you try it, you will
have a more positive view of it.
Hoa: Everything has two sides, right? I think I will try one later. Anyway, I hope you can find
a suitable part-time job soon.
Hue: Yeah, thanks. See you later.
