SIMILE

Simile - In a simile, two things which are completely unlocked are compared with
each other. A simile is introduced by words such as like, so, as etc.
EXAMPLE:
• Her skin was as white as snow.
(there is a two comparison and there is the word “as”

METAPHOR

Metaphor – A figure of speech which a comparison is drawn between two unlike


ideas without the use of “like” or “as”.
EXAMPLE:
“Fran is a teddy bear”
(There’s a comparison but it didn’t use “like”or “as”)

PERSONIFICATION

A figure of speech giving a human traits or characteristic that isn’t human


Such as animals, object, non-living things.

EXAMPLE:
“The coconut tree shook her long hair”
(coconut is non living things object like that and longhair is the human
traits.)

HYPERBOLE

HYPERBOLE- it is a major exaggeration or over statement.


It is used to make something seem bigger or more important than it actually is.

EXAMPLE:
“My backpack weighs a ton.”
( that is in a simple way on a simple interpretation that is only his backpack is
heavy)
