FLOOR SYSTEM
❑ The building primary horizontal planes that support both:
▪ Life load – weight of occupants and contents
▪ Dead load – weight of the floor systems
❑ The interior of the floor provides space for mechanical and
electrical system.
❑ The surface of floor slab should resist wear & tear and should
be sleepry
Finishing:
floor finish,
cement screed
Structural Part:
slab, joists, deck

Floor Plan
FLOOR SYSTEM
Most important, Architectural Working Drawing should:
❑ Provide more info than other drawings like elevation,
section, site plan etc.
❑ Reveal contents and details of building
components:
▪ Material
▪ Location
▪ Dimension
❑ Acts as a base for the generation of other drawings
❑ Scale in floor plan:
▪ Mostly 1:50
▪ For large building in 1:100, 1:200 etc
FLOOR SYSTEM
Purpose of Floor Plan

❑ Guides the construction team to lay out and construct floors,

columns, walls, openings, stair cases, fixtures, partitions etc.
❑ Helps the design team to develop other working drawings such
as sections, elevations, site plan, roof and ceiling plan etc.
❑ Show dimension, size, thickness of exterior features, interior
contents and room sizes such as exterior walls, columns,
partition walls material and thickness, room name & size.
❑ Indicate location of building components and contents such as
floors, column, walls, opening, staircases, fixtures, partitions etc.
❑ Specify materials of building components and contents such as
floors, column, walls, opening, partitions etc.
