GUIDELINES FOR METHODS OF RESEARCH 1 (PROF ED 11) THESIS PROPOSAL

WRITING

Please strictly follow this set of guidelines.

1. For the groupings of the students, each group must be composed of 4 to 5 members as stated
in the COED Research Manual coming from the same class/section. The members may consider
their locality, field of interests and circle of friends in selecting their group members. Each group
must have a unique name that will be decided by the group. Strictly follow ethical and proper
naming of groups. Foul words or names of groups are STRICTY PROHIBITED.

2. Once the groups were formed, each group must prepare at least five (5) research
problems/titles that will be presented during the title proposal defense. Each study must be
solution oriented and with a concrete plan or output to serve as the solution to the identified
problem.

3. All researches will be utilized descriptive research design through data mining. Credible data
are accessible to the following sources: United nations, UNESCO, Philippine Statistics Authority,
World Health Organization, SEAMEO, Commission on Higher Education, Department of
Education, World Bank etc. The research must focus on at least one of the following Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).

4. Title Proposal Paper must be submitted a week before the title proposal defense. The
aforementioned paper includes the following parts:

a. Title of the Study;

b. Rationale of the Study & identified SDG;

c. General Problem of the Study; and

d. Possible Source of Data.


5. Before securing an Advisory Panel, the groups must first have a concrete title and draft of
their proposal paper (Chapters 1 to 3 as checked by the Research Teacher). The following
accomplished forms (with its corresponding date of submission) must be all secured before the
submission of the final proposal paper. The identified Advisory Panel will be monitored by the
Research Teacher to ensure that the number of advisees per faculty are well distributed.

Such accomplished forms must be uploaded to section’s designated google drive folders.

6. A final proposal paper must be submitted to the concerned research teacher on or before the
week of the final exam. The proposal paper will only be called final if the aforementioned paper
goes under the rigid checking and revisions from the advisory panel consisting of the Research
teacher, Research Adviser, Statistician, and Language Critic. The approval of the advisory panel
must be reflected on NEUST-EDU F035 - Proposal Evaluation.
