Background of the Study

The covid 19 pandemic remains the a significant health problem globally, the covid 19 pandemic
affected the world and continues to alter life, and then according to the government of other
countries and here in the Philippines is having a lot of people who infected by the virus, and
some of those people died. The government of the other country decides to stop the face to face
classes because of the continues of spreading of virus, but in the other country can decides to
having a online classes by using the apps such as MS teams , google classrooms , and Zoom , in
online class set up the teacher can send the activities and assignment online , but the problem of
this online class set up is some of those student and teachers is having limited gadget and internet
connection to attend the class. And in the Philippines lockdowns started to roll over in the month
of march 2020. The two of the government agencies that’s was affected because of this are the
agencies under education specifically the Department of Education and the commission on
higher education were forced to stop the face to face classes with accordance of lockdown policy
sending the student back to their home and protect them to acquiring covid 19 virus the distance
learning can introduced to academe. The philippines government decides to having a distance
learning for the safety of the students and teachers, almost 27 million student lost more than a
year of in person learning, but in help of vaccine the cases of virus here in the philippines will
decrease according to DOH thats why the philippines decides to having a limited face to fave
class in the selected area, in tarlac state university have a selected courses to having face to face
class such as , Nursing and engineering course, In continues decreasing of the case of covid 19
virus the CHED and DepEd reminded stakeholders that they will implement blended learning.
As the covid 19 cases in the province of tarlac significantly drops the institution will offer more
limited face to face classes for that reason the researchers aim to determine the preparedness of
secondary education, Science major students at Tarlac State University will determine the
preference and perception of Science major students on the potential opening of limited face to
face classes and the conduct of blended learning.

Researchers have searched for various studies on whether students are prepared and what their
perception is when they open face to face classes at their school and not only in the Philippines
but also in other countries. which affected due to pandemic.
Chapter 2; Methods

Where its purpose to gather data. Our research is a quantitative specifically, a descriptive-survey design
it allows to collect from different subjects.

The essence of this chapter is to gather data of Students specifically first to third year Secondary
Education Major in Science at Tarlac State University. We survey these students of how are they
prepared and their presences in the opening of face-to-face class.

We provide questionnaire though email, Facebook messenger and other social messaging app which the
questionnaire composed of three parts, first part is the questions about the demographic profile of the
students, second will be the questions to measure the preparedness of the respondents and the third
part will be the questions regarding their preferred method of learning. In scaling of 1-5, Very Low-level
Preparedness to Very High Level of Preparedness accordingly for measuring of the students
preparedness, while students preference scaling 1-5, Not preferred to Highly preferred accordingly.
