Inf ormat ion of Organisat ion

Selasih Permata Sdn Bhd (SPSB) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Bhd, a diversified
company listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. SPSB is wholly responsible for our Indonesian
plantations which total three oil palm estates, all situated on Pulau Bangka. Two properties totalling
21,000 hectares were initially esyablished in 1994 are now fully mature. We have recently purchased
new land totalling 20,000 hectares named PT Bumi Sawit Sukses Pratame (BSSP) and are currently
clearing, planting and extablishing an infrastructure. It is our intention to register BSSP as an ordinary
member of RSPO allowing to benefit from the criteria laid out by the organization. Once we have
familiarized ourselves with the Code of Conduct expected from us, we will most probably register our
two other plantations with your organization.
As a responsible and committed company towards the environment and our Corporate Social
Responsibilities (CSR), we fully intend to abide by our commitments towards sustainability and with
the eventual production of sustainable palm oil.

Please st at e how your organisat ion int ends t o comply wit h t he RSPO Code of Conduct .
Specifically in t he f ollowing areas:

How will your organisat ion promot e t he RSPO int ernally and t o ot her st akeholders? :
You will appreciate that PTBSSP is currently a start-up company and we are still in the process of
nursery establishment, land clearing and the construction of permanent housing and other
infrastructure. However, we have another two oil palm plantations in Pulau Bangka which are now fully
mature with two crude palm oil mills. Following the same criteria as practiced on these two
plantations i.e. the construction of modern workers quarters with free water and electricity, sports
facilities, free medical care etc will be progressively introduced into PTBSSP as we progress with our
planting programme. We have already established a health and safety programme in an effort to train
our workers particularly in the use of herbicides etc. This has already been successfully introduced
into our other two plantations.
Another point of interest is our Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) towards the community in
general. We take this responsibility very seriously and have already introduced full scholarship
awards for needy students throughout the surrounding districts. This is only one part of our CSR
responsibilities which are too numerous to list.

Where relevant , what processes is t he organisat ion est ablishing t o engage wit h
int erest ed part ies, f or example t o resolve conflict or t o use sust ainably produced
palm oil? :
We have already employed human resource managers whose main functions are too closely
cooperate with the local villagers and their leaders to ensure that the general public are fully aware
of our activities. Minor conflicts are quickly resolved for the benefit of all concerned parties. It will be
another 2-3 years before our crude palm oil mills are constructed and commissioned but following the
criteria already established, we hope by then that sustainably produce crude palm oil will be more
readily acceptable by the end users.

Where relevant , how will your organisat ion work t owards implement ing t he RSPO
Principles and Crit eria or assessing supplier perf ormance against t hese crit eria? :
Basically the RSPO P&C are only common sense and we do not foresee any problem implementing
the criteria formulated by RSPO.

Any ot her inf ormat ion t hat would support t he applicat ion such as what your
organisat ion hopes t o gain f rom joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO? :
We are of the opinion that RSPO has proved to be a highly regarded organization to represent the
growers with the end users and the general public in particular. Bearing this in mind, we would be
foolish not to take advantage of RSPO's reputation and we hope to contribute in some small manner
towards the production of sustainable palm oil. Naturally, if we are accepted as a member, we will of
course fully support RSPO.
