Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe

Base Part Number: 6C646

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: Whenever the turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover the open ports to
protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes
are susceptible to damage even from small particles. Inspect and clean all the components prior to installation or
assembly.

1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.


Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.3L EcoBoost
(201kW/273PS), Removal and Installation).

2. Remove the fasteners and the air intake duct.


Torque: 42 lb.in (4.8 Nm)

3. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the retainer.

4. Loosen the clamp and position aside the bypass tube.

l Loosen the clamp.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
l Remove the CAC intake pipe mounting fastener.

Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

6.
1. Release the CAC outlet pipe by spreading the retainer ends outward.
2. Position the retainer ends in the notches locking the retainer in the open position and remove the
CAC outlet pipe.

Installation

1. Inspect the turbocharger or engine air intake system components and clean, if necessary.

2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
