DOME

• A dome is an architectural element similar to the hollow upper half of a sphere.


• The word "cupola" is another word for "dome", and is usually used for a small dome upon a roof or
turret.

COMPOUND DOME /GEODESIC DOME
• A geodesic dome is a hemispherical thin-shell structure
(lattice-shell) based on a geodesic polyhedron.

ELLIPSOIDAL DOME
• An ellipsoidal dome is a dome (also see geodesic dome), which has a
bottom cross-section which is a circle, but has a cupola whose curve
is an ellipse.
