INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT THE MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY
AND ALLOW IT TO CONTINUE ON ITS PATH OF INNOVATIVE
GROWTH. ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS INCLUDE THE DESIGN AND
ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT, IMPLEMENTATION, AND
INTEGRATION OF EXISTING SUCCESSFUL ARCHITECTURE INTO
SYSTEM SOLUTIONS.

• THE IT INFRASTRUCTURE COMPONENTS ARE MADE UP OF


INTERDEPENDENT ELEMENTS, WITH THE TWO MAIN GROUPS
BEING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE. FOR IT INFRASTRUCTURE
TO FUNCTION, THE HARDWARE RELIES ON SOFTWARE SUCH
AS IN AN OPERATING SYSTEM. CONVERSELY, SOFTWARE, LIKE

RESOURCES AND HARDWARE.

THEIR RESPECTIVE PROGRAMS AND DEPARTMENTS. THE ADMISSION NUMBERS ARE AUTO-
GENERATED AND ASSIGNED IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER. FURTHERMORE, BIODATA AND PREVIOUS
ACADEMIC RECORD IS ENTERED AGAINST UNIQUE STUDENT ID.
• ONCE STUDENTS ARE ASSIGNED WITH REGISTRATION NUMBERS, ADMISSION OFFICER REGISTERS
THE STUDENTS IN COURSES OFFERED IN THEIR FIRST SEMESTER.
• THE RECORD IS BEING UPDATED AND ADMISSION FEE ALONG WITH ALL ACADEMIC AND
ADMINISTRATIVE DUES ARE SYNCHRONIZED WITH ACCOUNTS SECTION.
STUDENTS DEPOSIT THEIR FEE WITH THE IN-CAMPUS BANK
BRANCH WHICH HAS ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM. IMMEDIATELY
AFTER THE FEE IS DEPOSITED, THE SYSTEM IS UPDATED AND
ACCESSIBLE TO ADMISSION OFFICE AND OTHER
DEPARTMENTS FOR SUBSEQUENT PROCESSING. ONCE
REGISTRATION PROCESS IS COMPLETED, THE ADMISSION
OFFICE PROVIDES THEM WITH A COMPUTER-GENERATED
TIMETABLE ALONG WITH DETAILS OF SUBJECTS, INSTRUCTOR
AND LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNED CLASS.

IS SYNCED WITH ADMIN DEPARTMENT
• FOR PRINTING RFID EQUIPPED STUDENT CARDS. AS MIS IS OPERATIONAL AND
UTILIZED IN EVERY DEPARTMENT OF SLAU, THEREFORE, STUDENT’S ID IS USED
BOTH BY STUDENTS AS WELL AS STAFF
• FOR SERVICES, FOR EXAMPLE: LIBRARY, ACCOUNTS, ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT,
EXAMINATION, CLASSES, REGISTRAR SECTION, IT AND SO ON.
CONCLUSION
SLAU MUST USE APPLICATION WHICH IS SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED, TESTED, AND FOUND TO BE
WORKING AS EXPECTED.
IT MUST HAVE SOME QUALITIES SUCH AS REDUCTION IN THE COST OF PROCESSING, REDUCTION IN
TIME SPENT IN COMPUTING GPAS/CGPAS, GENERATION OF TRANSCRIPTS, AND ELIMINATION OF
DUPLICATE RECORDS, WHICH MAKES IT SUPERIOR TO THE MANUAL SYSTEM OF STUDENTS’ RESULTS
PROCESSING.
BASED ON THE FINDINGS OF THIS REPORT, THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS HAVE BEEN MADE:
INPUT DESIGN FOR RESULT PROCESSING - A SUBSYSTEM OF THE SRMIS - IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE
IN THE AREA OF PIPE-LINING, AS IT ALLOWS FILES CONTAINING ALREADY PREPARED DATA TO BE
UPLOADED INSTEAD OF ENTERING PIECES OF DATA ONE AFTER THE OTHER INTO THE SYSTEM VIA
KEYBOARD AND FORMS.
RECOMMANDATION
 NETWORK TOPOLOGY OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY MUST BE AVAILED TO IT SYSTEMS
MANAGER
 USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS OF DIFFERENT MACHINES AND SYSTEMS SHOULD BE
DOCUMENTED
 THE UNIVERSITY GET BACK E-LIBRARY FOR STUDENT TO USE AND IT SHOULD BE MANAGED BY
LIBRARIAN WITH THE HELP OF IT SYSTEMS MANAGER.
 UNIVERSITY SHOULD GET ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS AND RESOURCES SO THAT IT CAN OFFER
DISTANCE LEARNING TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE, LIKE ZOOM ACCOUNT FOR AT LEAST 10
HOST
 ALL OFFICES SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO WIRED INTERNET TO EASY TIMELY COMMUNICATION
WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY
 THE SYSTEM MUST PROVIDE EVENT MANAGEMENT, INTERNAL MESSAGING, NOTICEBOARD
AND TIMETABLE FOR A SEMESTER
 THE UNIVERSITY SHOULD HAVE EXTERNAL BACKUP FOR ALL SYSTEMS
 WE SHOULD CREATE ONE STOP CENTRE FOR ALL ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES WHERE
BY ALL LECTURERS AND STUDENTS MUST BE SERVED IN ONE PLACE WITHOUT
WAITING FOR SOMEONE WHO IS IN THE MEETING OR WHO HAS NOT
REPORTED TO THE OFFICE DUTIES.
 ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE DONE THE EXAM, THEIR RESULTS MUST BE PINNED
ON THE NOTICEBOARD WITHIN THE SYSTEM AND IF NECESSARY, THEY CAN BE
DOWNLOADED AND PINNED PHYSICALLY.
 THE UNIVERSITY SHOULD INSTALL BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE TO ITS SYSTEMS TO
CAPTURE RECORDS FOR LECTURERS AND ADMINISTRATORS
