What is this book about?

Summary: The book opens on March where Greg have to get rid of things he
doesn’t in his closet for spring cleaning day and he gets memories about various
objects from his childhood. He then has a yard sale and hires Rowley to make sure
nothing is stolen, which Rowley did not do at all. When it starts raining, Greg's
objects on sale are ruined, and he does not sell anything. When Greg's great aunt
Reba dies, Greg is very excited about receiving inheritance money. After a family
meeting, Susan chooses to spend the money on expanding their house's kitchen.
To prepare for the construction, Frank tries to teach Greg how to do chores
around the house. Greg fears that a monster is in the plumbing while trying to
unclog the drain. When Greg is instructed to paint around his family's hot tub, he
discovers a wasp's nest. While cleaning the gutters, the ladder falls and Greg is
stuck on the roof until he climbs in through the bathroom window. Susan hires
professional workers, and Frank sends Greg outside to help them. A fight is
started when Greg ruins one of the workers' lunch deliveries.
The main character:
Greg – from my personal opinion about him is that he is just a regular child that is
lazy, immature, self-obsessed, and manipulative like every children. He is also
kind of narcissistic and absurd because from what I observe in the book, Greg
have high expectation of becoming famous and buying a house with lots of
ridiculous and expensive stuffs just like that. Although you can’t blame him, as
readers will notice that the author is really trying to give the impression that Greg
is a kid which is why he is shallow meaning he lacks real common sense and
critical thinking
Some other important people:
His mother, Susan; his father, Frank; and his best friend, Rowley; as the Heffley
family renovates their house and prepares to move to a new neighborhood.
The Biggest problem/conflict in the book is…
Greg Heffley's family receives an inheritance from Aunt Reba who died during her
sleep, so they use the money to renovate their house. But they soon find that
home enhancement isn't all its broken up to be.

Once the walls come down, all sorts of problems start to crop up. Nasty wood,
toxic mold, annoying critters, and something even more ominous all make Greg
and his family wonder if the renovations are worth the trouble.
Greg and his family receives an inheritance from their late Aunt Reba. They
decided to use that money to renovate their house. Greg’s family tried to sell
their house however, when the buyers were checking the house, they did not like
Susan’s taste in furniture. Susan did not care what they think of her taste in
furniture so they still continued. Eventually, they met a family who adore her
taste in furniture and decides to buy the house. Unfortunately, it seemed that
Greg’s family have another problem. Once the walls come down, all sorts of
problems start to appear like those Nasty wood planks, toxic mold, annoying
critters, and something even more worrying all make Greg and his family wonder
if the renovations are worth the risk.
Some important events in the book are:
Sine a part to the house is too close to a neighbor's residence, then is had be
destroyed, and the rest of the inheritance money is spent on fixing the hole.
Later, Susan tells Greg that his school's funding is being cut due to low scores on
the test, because, according to Greg, a kid had led the stress lizard out of its cage
during the school-wide test, suggesting that they move neighborhoods to a new
school district. Greg is excited about the idea of being in a new school, but
worries about leaving Rowley alone. When Greg and his family tour a house, they
like it and want to move in. Greg's family attempts to sell their own house, which
is successful when a family chooses to buy it on the condition that the hot tub is
removed. Suddenly, the hot tub slammed into the himney, fell through the roof
leaing beind a giant hole.
The ending: Greg’s family rush panicky to get all their things out when they saw
that construction has already been done. A worker hurries to remove the hot tub,
lifting it with a crane. Ominously, he is distracted by wasps and the hot tub falls
through the roof, creating a large hole in the house. After the buyers saw the new
condition of the house, changed their mind about moving in, and Greg admits
that he was not ready to move, glad to remain Rowley's best friend. And the
Heffley’s have to stay in the basement of Grandma’s house.
The morale I learned: “be happy with what you’ve got”, this completely changed
my mind about complaining of not getting the things I want because you never
know that there might be someone out there who wishes to have the things you
own.
