V 一下

「一下」serves a polite function of softening the tone of the

sentence. When what is expressed is a request/command,
this pattern softens the tone of the statement and
the hearer finds the request/command more moderate.

请你看一下我们公司的新产品。
Qǐng nǐ kàn yíxià wǒmen gōngsī de xīn chǎnpǐn.
Please have a look at our company’s new products.

我来介绍一下我们公司⽣产的配件。
Wǒ lái jièshào yíxià wǒmen gōngsī
shēngchǎn de pèijiàn.
I will briefly introduce the accessories
produced by our company.

V 得 adj/adv

A big part of understanding Mandarin is understanding

its particles. The complement marker 得 follows the
verb and introduces the complement, which describes
the result or state of the action suggested by the verb.

你的名片设计得很好看。
Nǐ de míngpiàn shèjìde hěn hǎokàn.
Your business card is very well designed.

我跟这家公司的董事长聊得很⾼兴。
Wǒ gēn zhè jiā gōngsī de dǒngshìzhǎng
liáo de hěn gāoxìng.
I conversed happily with this company’s
board chairman.

你们公司的产品卖得不错啊！
Nǐmen gōngsī de chǎnpǐn mài de búcuò a!
Your company’s products are selling quite well!

有(一)点 adj.
a little + adj.

「有」means “have”, and「(一)点」means “a little”. It is

often expressing dissatisfaction . The (一) meaning “one”,
here is in parentheses, as it is optional.

你们产品的价格有一点⾼。
Nǐmen chǎnpǐn de jiàgé yǒu yìdiǎn gāo.
The price of your products is a bit high.

这次产品的交货时间有一点晚。
Zhè cìchǎnpǐn de jiāohuò shíjiān yǒu yìdiǎn wǎn.
The time of this delivery is a bit late.

你们公司的经理有点难沟通吧？
Nǐmen gōngsī de jīnglǐ yǒu diǎn nán gōutōng ba?
Your company ’s manager is a bit difficult to
communicate with, isn’t he?

This construction can almost be literally translated as

“don’t know if something is possible or not.”

这个产品的价格有点⾼，不知道能不能便宜⼀点？
Zhè ge chǎnpǐn de jiàgé yǒu diǎn gāo,
bù zhīdào néng bù néng piányíyìdiǎn?
The price of this product is a bit high, I’m wondering
if it is possible to make it slightly cheaper?

我对你们公司的业务有兴趣，不知道能不能给我你的名片？
Wǒ duìnǐmen gōngsī de yèwù yǒu xìngqù ,
bù zhīdào néng bù néng gěi wǒ nǐ de míngpiàn?

According to…

The preposition 按照 refers to “on the basis of, in accordance

with, following…” The 按照 prepositional phrase can be placed
either at the very beginning of a sentence, or before a verb.

按照计划，我们下个月会跟那家公司签合同。
À nzhào jìhuà, wǒmen xià ge yuè huìgēn
nà jiā gōngsī qiān hétong.
According to our plan, we will sign a contract
with that company next month.

如果你们不按照约定时间交货，
我们当然也不可能按照约定时间付款。
Rúguǒ nǐmen bú ànzhào yuēdìng shíjiān jiāohuò,
wǒmen dāngrán yě bù kěnéng ànzhào
yuēdìng shíjiān fùkuǎn.
If you don’t make the delivery according to the
appointed time, we will naturally be unable to
make the payment according to the scheduled time.

你为什么没按照客户的建议去修改这份⽂件？
