ABSTRACT

BAYLOSIS, JOSAFAT SANCHEZ. 2022. Manually – Operated Rice

Transplanter (Frame Component). BSME Thesis. College of
Engineering, University of Southern Mindanao – Kidapawan City Campus.
Sudapin, Kidapawan City. 32pp.

Adviser: GEORGE F. GAMOLO, ME

The study aimed to design and fabricate a frame for manually – operated
rice transplanter that could hold all the other components of the machine for
faster methods of rice transplanting. To develop this project, the step-by-step
process was being followed. The frame of manually – operated rice transplanter
was constructed with the aid of machine design principles acing the supporting
multi-force members of all other parts of the manually operated rice transplanter
machine. The frame is made up of a 1 in x 1 in x 1.5 mm tubular pipe which is
120 cm in length, 50 cm in width and weighs almost 14 kg. The floater which can
make the performance of the machine smooth, easy and leveled the rice paddy
was rivetted at the bottom part of the frame was made of a 4 ft x 8 ft x .9 mm of
plain sheet. A 150 cm handle is fabricated in front of the frame where can
operator able to operate the machine. A little revision was done on the shafting
guide of the wheel where the size was being adjusted into ½ of its original size
for the wheel to make it more functional. The functionality of the frame
component of the manually – operated rice transplanter was determined based
on the results gathered from the testing conducted. Based on the findings
gathered after designing and testing the machine frame structure, the researcher
concludes that the fabricated machine frame structure was capable of supporting
the parts of the manually – operated rice transplanter.
