IV. RATIONALE:
The fight against COVID-19 is not yet over. At this moment, this virus may
be hiding from an asymptomatic individual who might be anyone we are dealing
with, and which might be everywhere. With this, the Department of Education is
still recommending tight measures to avoid the spread of this virus. As the schools
means of attendance are heavily affected by the Covid 19 outbreak, the use of
traditional and biometric means to check attendance is not encouraged by the
health care personnel.
Due to the need to prevent the possibility for the virus to spread at a rapid
rate, the proponent devised a way on how to improve the process to prevent the
spread of the virus and for faster attendance checking during retrieval and
distribution of SLMs. The proponent will utilize ICT in implementing “Contactless
Attendance Checking” during the weekly distribution and retrieval of SLMs using
QR Codes. QR codes are unique barcode-like codes which function as gateways to
access information stored in a specific database.
