We want a matching website that is almost always a Company Website (private domain that is
dedicated to the matching business), or if that cannot be found, a Social Page (usually Facebook but may
also be Dianping, Ctrip, Practo if claimed, Ekiten, Hotpepper, Gnavi, Tabelog, VK, OK). The private
website is always better than a social page.

 If you see “posts about <the named business>” on Facebook, that’s a community page; don’t use it.
Also avoid using the page if it does not have any posts.
 Aggregators are online business directories, while review pages are aggregators that also have
written user reviews (we’re not talking about star ratings). You can tell a website is an aggregator when
it has many of the same kind of page for different businesses which the aggregator has made.

Very rarely, you will use ‘Unable to verify’; it’s alright to mark this if you cannot tell which website
belongs to the business, like below where the given name could refer to a BJ’s Restaurant or BJ’s
Wholesale Club – both chains have locations in Florida. **If the website given at the left under Current
Business Details is bad/not usable, do not use ‘Unable to verify’, choose ‘Should be empty’.

With few exceptions, don’t use specific subpages like About Us, Contact Us, store locators, lists of chain
locations, etc that have address/phone details. You can use those pages to match the website to the
given business, but do not select it as the website. Use the best landing page instead.

Specific subpage exception: For chain locations, give the store page if you can find one; otherwise, use
the chain homepage (even for closed locations, see next example ‘Walgreens’).

When in doubt, pick the matching website as close to the provided entity as you can. The website
should show an equivalent name, and either a matching or nearby address, or a matching phone
number. The business might be an authorized retailer, such as a cell phone store authorized to conduct
sales for a cell phone carrier, with pages on two domains (select the one with the closer name match). It
might also be a department of a municipality (for these, lists are okay if that is all you can find).

Sometimes, non-chain businesses move and we can no longer match to the old address. You might have
an exclusive name match with a match to the city or metro area, and possibly a phone match, but then
the address line is different. For these, go ahead and supply the website. (For chains, use the main URL

the addresses overlap the same city/metro area, and there is not another, different business with the
