IA IDEAS has been in place since 2017. Post new curriculum it is now reworked as per the
Toolkit advisory. Created as per the IA Took kit from the MAI Guide 2019 first exam May
2021. This is a MINI IA IDEAS effort - first of its kind introduced to support the learner of
understand the Financial Math & Statistics fundamentals from the real life. This bank story is
purely my own idea and Not copied from any source nor from any text book / internet. Any

a) Find the average number of walk-ins per day during a covid week of the month

b) Find the average deposits per day and withdrawals per day for this
Covid Week of the Month

c) Illustrate through a Box-Whisker plot for the deposits of the branch and interpret your
answer from your results

d) Does the Branch depend on deposits for its withdrawals indices if the SBI has a policy of
a branch to operate on self-sufficient basis or a Strategic Business unit policy (SBU)
model? Use Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation tool to interpret your answer

e) What proportion is withdrawals of the deposits for this Covid Week

f) Using the idea of (d) Can we assume that new accounts have an impact on Walk ins

g) If the deposits are increased by 10% each day for the next week (week 2) and by Rs 25
lakhs each day for the week next (week 3), how much the average of week increase of
week 2 and week 3 from the original Covid Week of the Month

h) Find the standard deviation of week 1, week 2 and week 3. Do you observe any relation
between them? Generalize your opinion on your results

i) If the new savings accounts per customer average is Rs 1500, find the total deposits for
this week from this new customer and what % of this contribute to the Bank Deposits for
this Covid Week Month

j) Through appropriate representation Illustrate the Bank’s deposits and withdrawals

k) If the Bank’s one of the health indicator (H) is calculated by H = Deposits – (withdrawals
+ Loans provided + Writeoffs), find H index for Covid week of the month If Bank
disbursed 30 Lakhs loans with 2 lakh write offs during that week). Comment on he
Health of the branch

l) If the Branch is on average getting 30% less deposits and 50% more withdrawals
comparing a non-covid month, what could the deposits and withdrawals in a non-Covid
Week

m) Use your own arguments to discuss the overall branch performance through your above
research
