sentences of the importance of cleaning the
house, right?

There you have it! Very Good. Well done
class, it’s visible that you did your
assignments, and you listened carefully to our
previous discussion. Now, let me see if you
really learned and listen to our previous
discussion.

(One student raises his hand)

Are you ready for my questions class?

Cleaning eliminates germs along with the dirt
and dust, resulting in better indoor air quality.
Also, it leaves a whiff of freshness in its
wake.

Review

Let us first have a short recall about our

previous lesson. And your answers will
indicate if you really listened to Teacher
Lanie last time, alright class?
So, my first question is, Do you remember
the materials used in cleaning the house?
More than ready Ma’am, Bring it on.

Very Good! How about liquid cleaning

Motivation

Now before we formally start, we will play a

game. Are you ready?

Yes, Ma’am!
Very Good! For the instruction of the game,
you will spot which among the choices is
drawing and which class is not understood.

Alright! Very Good, Noah got a correct

answer for those who want to try the next one.
We’re ready Ma’am

Correct! Nadia got a point.

Alright, Correct! Who got the correct answer.

And for the last one who wants to try?
Yes, Ma’am

Excellent! You all got the correct answers.

Let’s clap our hands because you got it all
correct.

B. Developmental activities
(One of the students raised her hand)
Presentation

Now, let us proceed to our discussion. What

we played earlier is related to our lesson for
today. Do you have any idea what our lesson
is for today? (Another student raises her hand)

Yes! Very Good. It correlates with drawing

because our lesson for today is about Basic
sketching, Basic shading and Outlining
techniques

Alright. Let’s proceed. Let’s start with Basic

Sketching. Nadia, can you read the meaning
of basic sketching?

(Student raises hand)

Drawing!
In simple context class, sketch is referring to a
quick, informal drawing. That means it’s just
representing the characteristics of the subject
with just a few incisive strokes.
(Show some examples of sketches and let the (The class nods)
students observe)

Let’s proceed to the next one which is basic

shading. Steffany, can you read what the
meaning of shading is? Yes, Ma’am
Sketch is traditionally a rough drawing in
which an artist notes down his preliminary
ideas for a work that will eventually be
realized with greater precision and detail.

(The class is listening attentively)

Thankyou, shading on the other hand is done
to create an illusion and helps illustrate depth
in paper. We have different techniques to use
in shading.

1. Hatching
2. Cross hatching
3. Stippling
4. Scribbling
5. Smudging

Hatching class involves creating groups or

patterns of parallel lines. These lines don't
have to be completely vertical or horizontal. Yes, Ma’am
They can also be slanted or follow any angle

degrees of light and dark in a picture or
drawing.
Cross Hatching is like taking parallel
hatching to the next level. You create a first
layer of parallel lines (in any direction) and a
second layer of lines is drawn on top in a
perpendicular or nearly perpendicular manner.
This technique is probably the quickest of all
since you can create darker values faster than
with the other techniques. I tend to go for this
method most of the time myself.

Stippling, tone, and texture are built up by

applying dots in different densities. This
technique takes time, and you have to make
sure that you don't start creating lines instead
of dots.

Scribbling A scribble is a drawing composed

of random and abstract lines, generally
without ever lifting the drawing device off of
the paper. It is an excellent technique to use
when drawing specific subjects like trees or
hair because it not only creates values, but
also transmits a sense of texture. (Class is listening attentively)

Smudging means that you have to work less

to achieve shading. You simply put some
graphite down and then smear it to cover a
larger area much more quickly

Okay class, that is the different techniques of

shading. Again, what are the basic techniques
in shading?
Great Job! Now let’s proceed to the last of
which is Outlining. Zasha Kindly read what is
outlining.

Correct! Thank you Zasha. Outline is the

initial outline sketch before any shading or
coloring has been added. The outline can be
used for reference points when adding more
detailed elements at a later stage. Outline
class is like the anchor that holds the rest of
the drawing together because without it you
do not know where to start your drawing
because it serves us guidelines whenever we
are drawing.
(All students)
1. Hatching
2. Cross hatching
3. Stippling
Now, class let’s proceed to the
profession/occupation that uses basic shading, 4. Scribbling
sketching and outlining. We are here. 5. Smudging
Cathleen Kindly read.

form art, where the subject matter is
composed solely of an outline. The artwork is

never be completed without the use of basic
shading, sketching, and outlining. Always
remember that these basics are like their
foundation in building/creating something.
They needed to outline first, sketch or shade,
not only to have scaffold/foundation, give
clear identification and actualization but to
produce something. Do you understand?

C. Concluding activities
(Class Nods)

Application
The students will pick a box and upon
opening the student will identify if the picture
is sketch, outline, or shade. Now after the
student answers he/she will point out
someone who will answer next. The saga will
continue until all the students answer already.

How about the five techniques in shading? Do

you remember them?
Excellent!

Lastly, Can you give me a profession in

which we can use these basic techniques?

(Student raises hand)

Basic, Shading, Sketching and Outlining
Correct! I am amazed that you learned
something from me in this lesson. Before we
proceed to your activity, Do you have any
questions? Kindly raise your hand if you have
