A Modal is a type of auxiliary or helping verb that is used to express ability, possibility,
permission, or obligation.
One-word modals always go with the base form of the verb. Subject-verb agreement is not
observed in sentences using one-word modals.

she is referring to. Thus, we need to study place value to understand the order of
numbers.

The first digit to the right of the decimal point has a place value of tenths.
The second digit to the right of the decimal point has a place value of hundredths.
The third digit to the right of the decimal point has a place value of thousandths.
The fourth digit to the right of the decimal point has a place value of ten thousandths.
The value of the tenths place is one-tenth the value of the ones place. The place to
the left is ten times the places to its right. The decimal point dictates where the whole
number part ends and where the decimal part begins. Whether to the left or to the
right of the decimal point, the place value of a digit to the left is 10 times of that to the
right; equivalently, the place value to the right is one-tenth of that to the left. To further
understand the concept, let us study more examples.
Discussion for Task 2: To answer the question, let us organize the two prices in the table
and underline the digit being asked in the problem. Then, write the place value and
value of the underlined digit.

Task 1: Mother asks Mariz to buy 3.50 kilograms of beef and 2.75 kilograms of
pork in the market. How do we read and write these decimals in words?

It’s easy to read and write decimals once you remember the place values.
Like whole numbers, we read decimals from left to right. The digits to the left of the
decimal point are read as a whole number and the decimal point is read as “and”. The
digits to the right of the point are also read as a whole number, after which we say the
name of the place value of the last digit. If there are no whole numbers in front of the
decimal point, you do not use the word “and”. Rather, you read the number as normal
and end with the last place value of the number.

A. Readings/Discussions
Rounding and estimating are important skills in Math and in everyday life. Rounding
means making a number simpler but keeping its value close to what it is. The result is less
accurate, but easier to use. Estimating gives you an idea about the possible answer without
doing a lot of work. In daily life, estimation is great for giving intelligent guesses about possible
amounts.
To round a decimal number, determine first the rounding place. Then look at the digit to
the right of the rounding place. The digit in the rounding place is the one that will either be
rounded up or rounded down depending on the digit to its right. If it is 5 or greater, add 1 to the
digit in the rounding place. If it is less than 5, retain the digit in the rounding place. Do not forget
to drop all the digits after the rounding place.
Task 1: Reymar has a dog that weighs 22.873 kilograms. How can we round
22.873 to the nearest hundredths?

• Identify and describe the parts and functions of the reproductive system.
A. Readings/Discussions
The female reproductive system is made up of the internal and external sex organs that
function in reproduction of new offspring. In humans, the female reproductive system is
immature at birth and developed to maturity at puberty to be able to produce gametes and to
carry a fetus to full term.
• OVARY -produces egg cells as well as the female sex hormones, estrogen and
progesterone.
• FALLOPIAN TUBE - leads the egg from the ovary to the uterus. This is also the
usual site of fertilization of the egg cell and the sperm cell. Female humans have two fallopian
tubes, each connecting to an ovary to the side of the uterus.
• UTERUS - also called the womb. The uterus is a hollow muscular organ located at the
lower abdomen. It has a soft, smooth inner lining called the uterine lining or endometrium.
• CERVIX- is located at the lower part of the uterus. It is a narrow opening between the
uterus and the vagina. During the childbirth, it expands to allow the passage of the baby.
• VAGINA- also called the birth canal. The vagina is a hollow muscular tube that
extends from the cervix to the vaginal opening called vulva. It expands to let the baby pass
during normal delivery.
Sperm is the male reproductive cell. A man can release millions of sperm cells, but only one is
needed for fertilization. The photo above shows a graphical representation of a sperm cell. The
male reproductive system is made up of several organs which include the testes, ducts,
accessory glands, and penis. It is specifically responsible for producing sperm cells and
hormones. A sperm cell is needed to fertilize an egg cell. Hormones are responsible for the
development of adult male characteristics.
PARTS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
The different parts of the male reproductive system have their specific functions.
• Penis – the external male organ with a tip called glans. It is covered foreskin that
maybe removed through circumcision.
• Scrotum – is a pair of pouch-like sacs that contain the testes. It also controls the testes’
temperature because they must be slightly cooler than the body to produce sperm cells.
• Testes (singular, testis) – are the glands that produce the sperm cells and the male sex
hormone called testosterone.
• Urethra – the passageway of both urine from the urinary bladder and semen from the
glands.
• Seminal vesicles – are saclike pouches attached to the vas deferens. It contributes to
the semen production, a sugar-rich which provides energy for the sperm cell’s mutility (the
male accessory gland)
• Vas deferens – a long, muscular tube that serves as the passageway of the sperm cells
released from the testes. It also connects the testes to the seminal vesicle and the urethra.
• Cowper’s gland - also called as the bulbourethral gland, is one of the two pea-sized
organ found beneath the prostate gland. It is responsible for releasing fluid that flushes out
foreign matters / particles and neutralizes the acidic urine in the urethra.
• Prostate gland – is a gland located between the bladder and the penis. It produces fluid
that nourishes and protects the sperm.
Sperm is the male reproductive cell. A male can produce numerous sperm cells. An average
man can have approximately 5 million in a single drop of his semen. Out of this millions of
sperm cells, only one is needed to fertilize an egg cell.

Ang SLHT na ito ay sadyang binuo upang maipagpatuloy na matugunan ang
pangangailangang pampagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral sa kabila ng pandemyang
hinaharap ng bawat isa sa COVID-19. Pinagtulungan itong mabuo upang kayong mga
guro ay lubos na magabayan ang mga mag-aaral sa pagkamit ng mga pamantayang
nakasaad sa K to 12 na Kurikulum.
Inaasahan ang materyal na ito na maganyak ang mga mag-aaral sa pagsasagawa
ng mga inihandang gawain at mga oportunidad sa paglinang ng kanilang kaalaman at
kakayahan sa loob ng dalawang araw. Layunin din nito na mahubog ang kakayanan ng
mga mag-aarala sa mabisang pag-intindi at pagsagot sa mga tanong hinggil sa binasa
pati na rin ang iba pang kasanayan ng 21st Century na mag-aaral.
Bilang guro higit kayong inaasahan na manguna sa paghikayat at paggabay sa
ating mga mag-aaral na gawin ang mga inihandang mga gawain ng modyul na ito. Sa
tulong po ninyo ay matitiyak nating hindi mahuhuli ang ating mga Pilipinong mag-aaral sa
hamon ng globalisasyon.
Para sa mag-aaral:

Ang SLHT na ito ay ginawa bilang tugon sa iyong pangangailangang mahubog
ang kaalaman at kakayahan. Layunin nitong matulungan ka sa iyong pag-aaral habang
wala ka sa loob ng silid-aralan. Kaya, pagbutihan ang sariling pag-aaral at pagkatuto sa
pamamagitan ng SLHT na ito na iyong tatapusin sa loob ng dalawang araw.
Ang sumusunod ay mahahalagang paalala sa paggamit ng SLHT na ito :
Gamitin ang SLHT nang may pag – iingat. Huwag lalagyan ng anumang marka o
sulat ang anumang bahagi ng SLHT. Gumamit ng HIWALAY na papel sa pagsagot
sa mga pagsasanay.
Huwag kalimutang sagutin ang subukin bago lumipat sa iba pang gawaing
napapaloob sa SLHT.
Basahing mabuti ang mga panuto bago gawin ang bawat pagsasanay.
Obserbahan ang katapatan at integridad sa pagsasagawa ng mga gawain at
pagwawasto ng mga kasagutan.
Tapusin ang mga gawain bago pumunta sa iba pang pagsasanay.
Pakibalik ang SLHT na ito sa iyong guro o tagapagdaloy kung tapos nang sagutin
lahat ng pagsasanay.
Kung sakaling ikaw ay mahirapang sagutin ang mga gawain sa SLHT na ito,
huwag mag- aalinlangang konsultahin ang inyong guro o tagapagdaloy. Maaari ka rin
humingi ng tulong kay nanay o tatay, o sa nakatatanda mong kapatid o sino man sa iyong
mga kasama sa bahay na mas nakatatanda sa iyo. Laging itanim sa iyong isipang hindi
ka nag-iisa.
Inaasahan na sa pamamagitan ng SLHT na ito, makararanas kayo ng
makahulugang pagkatuto at makakuha ka ng malalim na pang-unawa sa kaugnay na mga
kompetensi. Kaya mo ito!

Isa sa mga 21st Century Skills na kailangang mahubog ng ating mga Pilipinong
mag-aaral ay ang pagsagot nang tama sa mga tanong tungkol sa kanilang binasa o
napakakinggan. Ang kakayahan at kalaman sa pagbasa sa mga salita ay kulang o
mawawalan ng halaga kung hindi naman kayang intindihin at sagutin ang mga
katanungan tungkol sa binasa. Bilang guro ito ay ating responsibilidad na hubugin ang

“ Katuturan ng Kolonyalismo”
Ang salitang kolonyalismo ay tumutukoy sa isang patakaran ng tuwirang pagkontrol
ng malakas na bansa sa isang mahinang bansa. Isinasagawa ang kolonyalismo sa
pamamagitan ng pagkontrol sa kalagayang pampolitika ng isang bansa, sa paninirahan sa lugar,
at sapagkontrol sa paglinang ng likas na yaman nito. Tinatawag na kolonya ang lugar o bansang
tuwirang kinontrol at sinakop nito.
Isa sa uri ng imperyalismo ang kolonyalismo. Ang imperyalismo naman ay tumutukoy sa
pakikialam o tuwirang pananakop ng isang makapangyarihang bansa sa ibang lupain upang isulong
ang mga pansariling interes nito. Ang kolonyalismo ang unang yugto ng imeryalismo ng mga
Kanluranin.
Nagsimula ang pagsagawa ng kolonyalismo sa daigdig nang magtagumpay ang mga Kanluranin
sa pagtuklas ng mga bagong lupain. Ang panahong ito ay tinawag sa Panahon ng Paggalugad at
Paggtuklas na naganap mula ika-16 hanggang ika-17 siglo.
Sa panahon ng pagalugad at pagtuklas, naging aktibo ang maraming bansa sa Europe na
maglayag at magtungo sa mga hindi pa nararating na bahagi ng daigdig. Nakatulong sa mga
manlalayag ang mga kagamitang nagpadali at nagpabilis ng kanilang paglalayag sa karagata tulad
ng compass na tumutukoy sa direksiyon g isang lugar at caravel o barkong higit na mabilis at may
kakayahang makapaglayag sa kabila ng malalakas na alon ng dagat.
“ Ang Spain sa Panahon ng Kolonyalismo
Kompetisyon sa Pagitan ng Spain at Portugal
Nagkaroon ng kompetisyon sa pagitan ng Spain at Portugal. Naging mahigpit ang tunggalian
sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa sa pagtuklas at pananakop ng mga bagong lupain. Dahil dito, hinati
ni Pope Alexander VI ang daigdig para sa mga lugar na tutuklasin ng dalawang bansa. Noong Mayo 4,
1943, inilabas ng Papa ang Inter Caestera (Kasulatan ng Papa) na naghahati sa daigdig sa dalawang
bahagi. Ang mga hindi pa natutuklasang lupain sa silangang bahagi ng imahinasyong linya na nasa 100
league kanluran ng Azores Island at Cape Verde Islands anakalaan para sa Portugal. Ang mga lupaing
tutuklasin sa kanlurang bahagi ng naturang imahinasyong linya ay para naman sa Spain.
Hindi sumang-ayon ang Portugal sa nilalaman ng Inter Caetera kung kaya’t pinalitan ito ng
Treaty of Tordesillas ng sumunod na taon. Isinasaad sa kasunduang ito na gawing 370 league kanluran
ng Azores at Cape Verde Islands ang paghahati ng mga lupaing tutuklasin ng Spain at Portugal. Buo
ang pasiya ng Spain na mamuhunan sa mga manlalayag na Espanyol upang magsagawa ng mga
ekspedisyon at tumuklas ng mga bagong lupain. May tatlong pangunahing dahilan ng pagsusumikap
ng Spain na nakatuklas ng mga lupain. Sa ilalim ng pamumuno nina Haring Ferdinand at Reyna Isabella
ng Spain ay naging mapangahas ang mga Espanyol sa paggalugad ng mga bagong teritoryo sa labas ng
Europe. Naging matagumpay ang mga manlalaya na sina Christopher Columbus na nakatuklas ng mga
pulo sa West Indies sa North America noong 1492 at Vasco Nuñez de Balboa na nakarating sa Pamna
noong 1513.
