(Gift Giving Satima Village)

We've all experienced the joy of receiving gifts. However, the joy of receiving is

fleeting. Our lives are richer when we share, and there is great inner joy in assisting

others to improve their lives. Giving from the heart brings joy to your life and feeds your

soul. Giving gives you an intrinsic reward that is far more valuable than the gift itself. "To

find yourself, lose yourself in the service of others," Mahatma Gandhi once said.

I feel happy when I give and share my blessings to Satima Village because

giving takes us out of ourselves and allows us to expand beyond the confines of this

world. True joy is found in the act of giving without expecting anything in return. Finding

meaning, fulfillment, and happiness in life comes from making others happy, rather than

being self-centered. In my experience, when we're focused on giving to others, we’re

less likely to become consumed by our own worries and difficulties. Giving allows us to

see beyond our own world and see the bigger picture. By stepping outside of our own

world and into the worlds of others, we can gain a new perspective. When compared to

other people's situations, your concerns and difficulties may appear insignificant. Giving

boosts one's self-esteem and brings happiness.

Giving is one of the best investments you can make toward achieving genuine

happiness. True giving comes from the heart, with no expectation of reciprocation.

You’ll find that the more you give, the more you’ll receive.

(Aikido: Self Defense)

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that combines self-defense techniques like

throwing, blocking, striking, and pinning with the philosophy of harmony and peace. To

incapacitate an attacker, all of the methods use as little effort as possible.

I feel joy when I set my eyes on the people who participate in the program of the

College of Criminology. I feel that my self-esteem rises because I’m gonna teach them

the technique of self-defense. Even though it is only a basic type of self-defense, as

long as it will save them from danger it is good. Aikido is useful for self-defense as well

as street fighting. However, most people who learn Aikido are trained not to fight unless

absolutely necessary for self-defense, and even then, their goal is not to significantly

harm the other. Aikido, on the other hand, can be extremely effective. Aikido is a difficult

art to master, so it is hard to teach if you are not knowledgeable. Many Aikido

techniques are subtle and require very specific movements to be executed correctly.

Furthermore, because the main goal of Aikido is to cause as little damage to your

opponent as possible, it relies on your senses and timing rather than brute force.

Before the end of the event, I remind them that it is only for self-defense not to

hurt other people. and I also remind them that through systematic training and regular

exercise, they will develop muscle tone, grow muscle mass, improve posture, and

maintain healthy body weight.

(Perpetualite Handog 2022; SSC)

Perpetualite Handog 2022 is a program that is giving, sharing, and making the

community happy. it is a kind of giving goods from the University of Perpetual Help

System DALTA Las Pinas, led by the SSC. This is a program where sharing a blessing

is being executed. Making the community feel that they are being remembered.

I am happy to see that even though the goods are totally not much, the

community is happy and contented. They also have respect for each other, because

when we assist them, they really cooperate. The feeling that I have that time is

overwhelming because even though the College of Criminology is only assisting in the

program, we are proud that we are part of it. Because we witness the happiness of the

people in that community. It is really an honor that the College of Criminology gives an

intermission. Despite of pandemic, we executed properly the program and its flow

accordingly. It is also happy to tell that the SSC gives its best to this program. They

really value and respect everyone. They are really willing to give service and give

enough time to make the people happy. Also, the raffle promo gives an excitement to

the people out there. They are really excited if their number will be picked.

I realize during the program that happiness is not only having all you need and

want, it is also giving and sharing blessings with others. Giving not only materially but

also hopes and respect.
