1. Identify the basic first aid procedures for common injuries;
2. Enumerate the types of first aid in times of emergency;
3. Demonstrate basic first aid principles and procedures for common
injuries;

Safety awareness is important to promote safety at home, in


school, and the community. First aid provides you with
knowledge and skill that you can use to help others during
an emergency. This will also help you develop habits that can
be useful during emergency situations and accidents
especially in helping others.

Safety awareness is important to promote safety at home, in school, and the


community. First aid provides you with knowledge and skill that you can use to
help others during an emergency. This will also help you develop habits that
can be useful during emergency and accidents especially in helping others.

FIRST AID is the immediate or quick help given to a sick or


injured person before full medical aid arrives.
The primary objective of first aid is to avoid the worsening of
the injury or the condition of the victim. It also aims to
consider, take care, and lessen the pain that the victim feels.
Many live will be saved if we know how to respond to medical emergencies and
give first aid.

Before doing first aid, it is important to keep the following guide in


mind.

1. Make sure that the victim and the first aider are safe before giving first
aid;

2. Avoid unsafe places and situations;

3. Move fast, correctly, and precisely. Do important things or “first
things first”;
4. Don’t panic; keep calm for the sake of the
victim or patient;
5. Ask help when you don’t know what
to do or when you are uncertain
about the fist aid to give.

Many accidents and disasters happen because of neglect and carelessness. The
safety of each person depends on the sense of responsibility of everyone.
Remember, first aid is up to you. Prompt basic aid can turn to a bad outcome to
a good one and save lives. Also, thoughtful prevention will almost always keep
needless accidents from happening.

Have you tried treating yourself when you got wounded, or gave
the first aid to others?

How will you give first aid to different injuries that could possibly happen to
the people in your home, school, or other places? Here are some of the first aid
for common injuires.
1. WOUND, SMALL CUT, or SCRAPE
1. Wash the wound or scrape with soap and clean water
to remove the germs.
2. Dry the wound and wrap with a bandage.

3. SCALDING or BURNING THE SKIN


1. Cool the burnt or scalded part with cold water .
2. Wrap with a clean shirt , cloth, or towel after,
and quickly bring the victim to a hospital.
3. FOOD POISONING

There are may types of food poisoning according to the food that was eaten
and the cause of the poisoningIf there
is a suspicion of food poisoning:
1. Find out right away what the
victim ate within last
48 hours.
2. Bring the vicitm to a hospital.
While the doctor is not yet present,
observe the victim’s breathing. The
victim should be in a comfortable
position.
3. Give the victim lots of fluids
especially if he or she is vomiting or has diarrhea to avoid dehydration.
You can prevent food poisoning by doing the following:
1. Wash raw food fruits and vegetables well before eating them.
2. Eat foods that are properly cooked.
3. Look at what you are eating and smell it especially if it looks or smells
different.
4. Cover and refrigerate rifht away to prevent bacteria or germs to grow .
5. Re-heat left-over foods from refrigerator to kill bacteria.
6. Consume foods before their expiration dates.

7. BONE FRACTURE
1. Place a splint on the affected area. This will be a big help in protecting
the affected area like the arms.
2. In placing a splint, make sure that the fractured bone is not moved while
fixing it so that the victim’s body will not be shaken. Position the splint
in the width that will cover the joints above and below thw suspected
broken bone.
3. If the bone is protruding, clean thw wound first with a clean gauze, then
place the splint.
4. FAINTING

1. Make sure that the airways or air passages of the victim are open.
2. Position the victim on his or her back, face up.
3. Check his or her airways if there is something blocking the throat of the
victim. Remove any object to make the victim breathe easier.
