“Why is it important to know students' struggles with online learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic?”

Introduction:
The big wave of Covid-19 strikes our world. It is a significant and alarming issue that needs to be
discussed and solved—an essential matter for everyone to have a great responsibility to face in this new
era. We need to learn more about this Pandemic to know what should be done, what we should do, and
how we can make our life new again. This study talks about the real side of the students regarding online
classes, the effects on them, as well as the possible solutions for them. In simple words, Covid-19 can be
the biggest problem of all. A simple move and the right way to escape Covid-19 and avoid online
learning with a proven reality by all of us. I am the one who helps and aims for the key to escape this
online learning. This topic is so important because many people suffered in online learning because of
the Pandemic. We need to go back from the fact that all of our struggles. It is being discussed by now
'cause what if someday this will wake us up again?

Students in Calasanz De Davao Academy experienced struggles with online learning for the past
few years. Issues from both sides of teachers and students expand. It is tough to distinguish what is right
and what is intended to do. Many methods are being used to avoid online learning and face-to-face
classes. To ensure safety and avoid spreading this virus, people take vaccinations. To support the face-
to-face classes, thereby cases of covid-19 should be low. This concept builds upon the countless insights
that have been proved and undertaken by students, teachers, testimonies, and frontliners. The research
will therefore address the situation that there are methods to go back to normal.

Need for this study:

All of us will be aware on what are the adaptability struggles and technical issues the students are
facing during the nationwide implementation of online and distance learning since the onset of the
COVID-19 pandemic and to promote their welfare and safety despite the need to preserve and continue
the system of education here in our country. With this study, society can understand the technical issues
that the students are facing before, especially the adults who do not know about the effect of online and
distance learning on the students (2020-2022). The concept will therefore identify that the community,
not only the students, can benefit much from this study because it tackles the challenges they
encountered during the onset of online learning. It is shown in dealing with the problems they had
encountered and bridging among each of us in terms of suggesting and implementing solutions to let the
students learn more and have a brighter future ahead.

Background:
Recently, advances in modern computer and network technology have driven the development of
distance education [1]. In addition, COVID-19 is a deadly virus that causes the pandemic worldwide. A
deadly virus that caused the World Health Organization (WHO) to announce the virus as a pandemic in
January 2020 is the leading cause of distance learning education through E-learning, an urgent and
needed thing for schooling to work.

As the pandemic started, students alike had a hard time adapting to the new environment, which
caused new problems and made us struggle a lot as the virus spread more viciously. Online learning has
become a universal thing for students and teachers alike to do in school, with the internet and new
technology making teaching more plausible by creating apps like zoom or meet.

This concept paper must be done due to the struggles faced by students when they face a new
learning environment. By making this research proposal, we can help the students struggle not just with
their technological struggles but also with physical and mental problems.

Objectives:

The research paper seeks to achieve its general objective of the struggles of online learning and to
avoid this platform for students and teachers.

1.)To help students achieve their goals even in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

2.) Implement solutions to let students learn more and have a brighter future.

3.) To analyze the adaptability struggles and technical issues the students of today are facing during
the nationwide implementation of online and distance learning since the onset of the COVID-19
pandemic.

4.) To promote safety despite the need to preserve and continue the education system here in our
country.

5.) To determine the struggles they are facing and find ways to cope with those hindrances to finish
their studies despite having this pandemic in this world.
Research Questions and or Hypothesis:

1.) Does online learning help students to learn more, or is it the barricade for students to learn
better? (face-to-face or online learning)

2.) Does Covid-19 significantly affect the education and future of society, especially students'
future?

3.) Does determining the barriers can help students face and find ways to cope with hindrances
with Covid-19?

Methodology:
The methods needed to obtain and conduct research is to make the research a case study, where we
do not just use a single view of another type of research, such as surveys and more. As the study or the
title focuses more on society, the research must be done qualitatively as we do not need numbers or
statistics to obtain or make research; the research is collected through various documents and some
academic literature, survey, interview, and online research.

A case study is a type of research where it aims to explore and depict a setting with a view to
advancing understanding. This note explores the dimensions of case study research in higher education,
with special reference to geographical fieldwork. It explores Stake's three categories of case study
research: intrinsic, instrumental, and collective. It provides guidelines concerning the limits and
definitions of case study research, the provision of ‘thick descriptions’, the formulation of good research
questions, data collection, analysis, and the search for meaning in case study research findings. Case
study research has the capacity to ‘sophisticate the beholding’ of the settings and activities that are
scrutinized [2]. When we collect data and use them as references to do research, as we have small cases
yet huge variables in this type of research, a case study plays a vital role in doing this research.

Moreover, the methods needed for obtaining such research are surveys, as we are talking about the
students' struggles in the new learning area. We must take their opinions about it to gain some concrete
evidence needed for our research. Up next is to search through documents and academic literature
research. This academic research may help us find some references and some kind of topic that can back
up our research. Next, we have an interview; interviewing people or students who face this new learning
may help us gain their own opinion about the particular topic, especially the topic (Why is it important
to know students' struggles with online learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic?). Last but not least is
the online research. Online research is a research method that involves the collection of information
from the internet [4]. As the issues faced by students are new and fresh, the academic literature on such
problems cannot be found. So by browsing the net with some academic literature, one can find clues and
problems regarding the research topic.

So for us to find the research method, we must use a case study to locate and find some descriptions
and references to the research. As the research is qualitative, we must do the methods that the qualitative
research needs as an example to those are literary research documents, academic literature, survey,
interview, and internet research.
