A MEDAL DOES NOT DEFINE YOU

Many people believe that excelling in school, having high grades, or

receiving numerous medals define them as who they are. Some of us are fully
conscious of it. They usually sacrifice their happiness, passion, and, more often than
not, their health. They work extremely hard to get the grades they need to graduate
from college and get the job of their dreams. Some of us will be wide awake at night
worrying about our future. We sometimes overthink all of the things we need to do or
things we really need to comply with in order to have the future we always want. We
may believe that having a lot of accomplishments in school, such as receiving a lot of
medals and having high grades, will really prepare us for it. Other parents put pressure
on their children to get good grades or to always be at the top. They constantly compare
their child to others, which may cause their child to sacrifice their happiness in order not
to disappoint their parents. When we fail, we always blame ourselves for not doing our
best and others become depressed, and some commit suicide or harm their self as a
result of disappointment. Because others believe that their accomplishments will
improve their lives and allow them to have everything they desire. But the truth is that
this is not the case.

Here's what no one tells us. A MEDAL DOES NOT DEFINE YOU

I'm the type of person who always chooses what makes me happy because
I believe that life is short and we should always choose to be happy. I always have a
good time in my life. I travel a lot, I always hang out with my friends and family, and I
always tell myself that I needed this and that and I'm not trying to be better than anyone
else. I enjoy my life, but that doesn't mean I've forgotten about my studies. I study hard
as well, but not as hard as I should, which makes me wonder if I really need to be at the
top. I just try my hardest and don't be afraid to fail because failure is a part of life. It also
improves us and allows us to learn a lot from it. And I'm also proud of my mother
because she doesn't put pressure on me to get good grades or achieve a lot in school
as long as I do my best , she's fine with it because she believes that my happiness is
the most important thing in my life. Because it was also based on her own experience.
Previously, she was the type of student who always wanted to make her parents proud
by having a lot of accomplishments in school, even if it meant sacrificing her sleep,
happiness, and health. She always prioritized her studies, but it was worth it because
she was excellent and was able to make her parents proud, but she already questioned
herself, "Yes, I make my parents proud, but did I also make myself proud?" She spent
so much of her adolescent life studying that she forgot she was still young and needed
to have fun and enjoy her youth. She only realized it when she was an adult, which is
why she does not want us to skip our adolescent years because we are under pressure
to study, as long as we do our best she’s fine with it.

Some may believe that in order to have a good life in the future, we must
study hard and achieve high grades. But having a good life is determined what is
important to you. Always take time to know your life’s values, priorities and goals.
Perform to satisfy the desires you wish to realize. Develop your relationship and be a
good family member and a good friend. Others always put their self under pressure to
be the best, and they have forgotten how to have fun in life. You may always choose to
stay at home and avoid socializing with your friends because you are afraid of failing
and what others will think of you if you fail.

In this life, none of us are perfect we make mistakes, make bad decisions,
and also we fail. Because having good grades, a lot of medals, excelling in school, or in
short having a lot of accomplishments in school will not truly define who we are. We
should not simply live our lives in fear of what others might think of us. So, if you don't
get the grade you wanted, even if you pulled terrible all-nighter, remember that success
isn't everything in life. True lessons are learned through struggle, so keep struggling and
striving, and your success will be far richer. And keep in mind that our grades do not
define us.
