Individual Reflection

My meaning making group consisted of Olivia, Brianna, Sophia, and i.

The person we did our assignment is Renee Isom. Renee is a
librarian at Fishers High School. The main concept we got from her
visit was the idea of connection.

Planning
As a group we met at the library to go
over our ideas. We all shared our
notes that we had taken and looked
at what we found similar or that stuck
out. After that, we used canva to
create our slides. While creating the
slides, we divided the work so we
knew what to present.

Unique Qualities
Personally, I think the game that we
played at the beginning of our
presentation was the most unique part of
the presentation. I enjoyed it because it
furthered our connections in our
classroom atmosphere. It was also fun,
and it make everyone more comfortable
with us leading the class.

Fitting with the

experience
By using the game, having interactive time between the
tables, and having everyone make a connection with
someone for our gift, we embodied Renee Isom's idea of
relationships. The main thing I took from her talk was that
making relationships with people can lead to us learning
more about the world. So, when we found a connection with
another person in our class, we are laying the foundation of
learning from each other.

Exploration of educator
identity
We explored Renee Isom's educator identity by
taking extensive notes on what she told us. We
used her artifact of the equity plaque to show what
she had already told us. Her commitment to her
students & the clubs that she sponsors shows that
she cares for her students. Through the
presentation we tried to focus on her impact word
"connection" by trying to connect with everyone in
the class

Integration with mentor

texts
The connection that I noticed the most with what
Renee talked about is Cornelius Minor's reading.
Listening to what are students are telling us
without verbal telling us is crucial. The only way
we can learn these signs is by getting to build a
relationship with each individual student. This is
important as educators because we are not there
to just teach them state standards, but we are
there to be their support and guidance.
Technology
We not only used canva to make our slides,
but we also created an e-book as our gift
to Renee. These tools made it easier to get
our information to everyone. The e-book
also makes it easier accessible for Renee
to reference without having to worry about
a physical copy.

Overall
This project has been my favorite project so far. I've
gotten to learn so much from other educators and their
experiences. However, my favorite part of this has been
the collaboration with some of my classmates. Without this
project, I wouldn't have gotten to know some of the
people in my class. When we were working in the library
together,we couldn't stop laughing because we were
having so much fun. I've got to meet some amazing people
in every step of this process. Presenting in front everyone
wasn't bad either. Everyone was willing to participate
which made it all so much easier. Something I may do
differently is maybe asking the educators more questions
so I can further my understanding even more
