How did you feel when trying to communicate and the receiver was not listening?

Attention of the listener affects how effective a speaker and its speech is.

When I was trying to communicate and the receiver was not listening, I felt disrespected

and uneasy. It is because the information and ideas I was trying to communicate was not

delivered to the receiver properly. Given that it is part of activity to try not to listen to your

partner, It is important to catch someone’s attention when you are communicating with them. I

noticed that when talking to someone, I should include non-verbal communication and be as

interactive as possible. In addition, tone and eye contact are also important most especially in

gaining attention from your receiver.

In conclusion, it is not easy to communicate when your audience is not paying attention

yet, there are many ways to get their attention and communicate properly.

Compare your answers with the others in your group. Write the difference between your

answers and your partner's and why do you think you have the same or different

perspective.

Different nonverbal cues are relevant in any type of situation, may it be in a small or big

group.

Given that in the first situation, I had the same impression with my partner that she might

be annoyed by the radio and cannot focus well. This is because we are both annoyed by noises

that are distracting when reading. On the next situation, the friend that suddenly changed the

topic might be feeling out of place or wants to gain attention, which is also same with my

partner. And lastly, on the last scenario, the girl might be feeling uneasy or is distracted. My

partner have a different perspective because he also does that, which depicts that he feels an

urge to do so and does not have a definite meaning of why he is not doing it.
 There are different perceptions of nonverbal cues as which a famous saying, “action

speaks better than words”, yet better written as “action is better WITH words”.

Once you have finished, write your impressions on the activity detailing how can you

improve communication between 2 people on a team. How can the personalities impact

the communication between 2 people?

Personalities is how a person express themselves and how the interact with other

people. It also affects on how a person communicate to other people.

In this situation, It was hard to communicate but given that there are improvements

made, we were able to do so. Two persons with different personalities have different ways to

communicate with each other. It can improve by adjusting to their personality and how they

perceive things based on their personality. It is hard to simply communicate based merely on

your own personality as it can result to misunderstandings and misconceptions.

People, in general, have different existing knowledge based on their personality that also

affects their way of communicating.

A group consists of people with a range of differing abilities and personalities. The

benefit of working in a group is to avail of the varying skills and expertise of members.

Think about the strengths and weaknesses of the members of a group. How could each

offer something useful? Would it be better to have members with similar characteristics

or a range of different types?

Two heads are better than one, a famous proverb says. What more if plenty of heads

think together in a group.

Brainstorming is the ability of a group of people to formulate an idea with their

knowledge joined to form a better idea and information. Funny it is that the most smartest
person can be outsmarted by two average people. They can offer different or new ideas from

each other as different people have different experiences and knowledge regarding a certain

topic. In addition, having a range of different types of characteristics balances the atmosphere of

the group as having of same types of ideas might overpower a certain characteristic and lack

another.

In conclusion, brainstorming is always helpful in generating an idea. It is better to have a

range of personality as it can complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
