    Essay: my childhood vs Rizal’s: recall your childhood days. Write a short biographical essay that
    compares your early childhood with that of Rizal.

    Rizal was born into a wealthy family, which speaks a lot about how privileged he was as a child,
    considering that there were only a few Filipino families in the middle class during the nineteenth
    century. He was born as a gifted child, able to recite the alphabet at the age of three, write at the age of
    five, and learn foreign languages. It's really not surprising to see Rizal showcasing his talents in the arts
    and literature at such a young age, given that his parents genuinely supported and fostered his interests
    and capabilities. It is possible to conclude that Rizal spent his childhood working on improving his
    knowledge and skills and placing a high value on his education above all else. However, it is also possible
    that, despite him being busy in his studies, Rizal enjoyed his childhood in the same way that any other
    child would, such as playing with peers and siblings considering that their family is a big one.

    Although I did not grow up in the same generation as Rizal and did not personally witness his childhood,
    I can say with certainty that his was unlike mine and that we do not share many similar experiences.
    Starting with the fact that I was born into an ordinary family with limited financial resources, I spent
    most of my younger years away from my biological parents. My aunt looked after me while my parents
    worked hard enough to fulfill the family's needs. Unlike Rizal, who had a hands-on mother who taught
    him basic knowledge, I was taught to read and write by my aunt. I was not as diligent as Rizal in terms of
    studying back then, because as far as I recall, I wasn't even able to attend daily in school during
    kindergarten because I easily became tired of doing the repetitive activities that revolved around
    drawing shapes and coloring activities. I merely went to elementary school as an average child, unaware
    to what truly interests me or what I should do to excel in class. I was never interested in the arts or
    literature, preferring to spend my weekends, summers, and free time playing. Unlike Rizal, I couldn't
    even get close to my siblings because of our age gaps.

    To sum it up, I was a kid who spent more time enjoying the days of being a kid, far different from how
    Rizal enjoyed his own. Regardless of how you look at it, Rizal's childhood and mine are completely
    different from one another, but I have no doubt that we both had wonderful childhoods filled with many
    precious memories.
