1. Preliminary Remarks

As part of the construction project ThePettCo is on the property Pettenkofer Straße 16-19 in 10247 Berlin

the new construction and the extension of commercial buildings are planned. The planned new buildings are
divided into the buildings NA, NB, NC,ND, NE and the existing buildings BA, BD and B-WB. An overview of the
parts of the building can be seen in the following picture.

advance deduction
The new buildings are to be erected in a timber hybrid construction method. The existing buildings are masonry
structures. The facades of the existing BA building are plastered. The existing building BD, on the other hand, has
exposed masonry with glazed bricks. Building B-WB also has exposed brickwork on the ground floor of the street
facade, otherwise a plaster facade. Structural extensions are planned for some of the existing buildings.

With the exception of building B-WB, the buildings are used for commercial purposes (non-residential buildings).
Building B-WB is a residential building.

Within the framework of the available building physics component catalogue, the relevant external components are
presented for the new buildings and the necessary thermal insulation measures are specified and the heat transfer
coefficients are determined.

When determining the thermal insulation measures, it was taken into account that the client is aiming for the EG40/
KfW-40 standard for the new buildings. In this regard, it must be stated that federal funding for new buildings is
currently suspended and it is not known what requirements will be placed on a possible renewed funding. The
measures listed below are therefore based on the status of the funding conditions of December 2021.

This component catalog is subdivided as follows:

• Requirements BEG EG40 (see Section 2)

• Physical building component catalog (cf. Section 3)

• Notes on summer heat protection (see Section 4)

2. Requirements EG 40

According to the statements in Section 1, the new buildings should comply with the EG40 efficiency house
standard. According to the latest version of the guideline for federal promotion of efficient non-residential buildings,
the annual primary energy requirement must be well below the legal requirements according to GEG. Furthermore,
the transmission-transmitting external components must meet the requirements for structural thermal insulation.

The requirements for the annual primary energy requirement must be verified as follows within the framework of
an energy balance according to GEG and DIN V 18599.

The following requirements must always be taken into account for structural thermal insulation.

3.1. Preliminary remarks

In the following, for each relevant component of the thermal building envelope, the component structure, the
suitable thermal insulation material, the thickness of the thermal insulation, the design value of the thermal
conductivity of the thermal insulation as well as the heat transfer coefficient (U-value) and the thermal resistance (R-
value) of the construction are given. Furthermore, the individual component verification according to DIN 4108-2 is
carried out for compliance with the requirements for the hygienically required minimum thermal insulation.

The thermal transmittance coefficient is determined on the basis of the rated values for thermal conductivity (ÿ
values) of the relevant building materials/thermal insulation in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6946. Upper limits (e.g.
ÿ ÿ 0.035 W/(mK)) are used for the rated values for thermal conductivity of the insulating materials. specified, on
the basis of which the heat transfer coefficient was determined.

When choosing a product, it should be noted that individual manufacturers specify the nominal value of thermal
conductivity ÿD or the limit value of thermal conductivity ÿlimit , which must not be used to determine the heat
transfer coefficient. According to DIN V 4108ÿ4, these values must be converted into the rated value of the thermal
conductivity ÿ. Alternatively, the design value of the thermal conductivity ÿ according to a building inspectorate
approval can be used as a basis.

advance deduction
In the context of the tender, the design values for thermal conductivity must always be specified.

3.2.External Walls

The building is to be erected as a timber hybrid construction. Since there is currently no specific information on the
design of the outer walls/facades, options for designing the facades are shown below, which are to be specified in
the context of further planning.

Component: Timber panel construction - with wood fiber insulation (AW01-01)

The concrete design of the wall construction must be coordinated with the structural engineer. The wall structure represents a basic wall
structure.

To determine the heat transfer coefficient, the proportion of wood was estimated at 15%.

3.6. Windows, doors, curtain walls

The heat transfer coefficient for window constructions is to be determined according to DIN EN ISO 10 077 or for
curtain walls according to DIN EN ISO 12 631. Basically, the overall heat transfer coefficient of a windowhimself the
consists
of the individual heat transfer coefficients of the glazing (Ug), the heat transfer coefficient of the frame (Uf) and the
length-related heat transfer coefficient (ÿg) due to the thermal influence of the pane edge compound. Therefore, to
determine the thermal transmittance coefficient of the window / curtain wall, technical information is required that is
only available with knowledge of the actual window construction.

A frame portion of up to 30% was initially assumed for the windows. If, in the course of the planning update, there
are larger frame portions for individual elements, a thermally improved profile system must be selected. Due to the
increased glazing weight, double insulating glazing is initially considered for glazed external doors.

After determining the actual window dimensions and the frame materials, the following information must be checked.

According to the requirements of the Building Energy Act, the requirements for summer

Proof of summer heat protection according to DIN 4108-2 may only be considered for cooling

if it is passive cooling as defined by the standard, ie no energy is used

to generate cold (the expenditure for auxiliary energy is excluded from this).

The information on the total energy transmittance is given by the product manufacturers and

depend, among other things, on the structure of the pane and the coatings on the glass. Man

distinguishes between thermal insulation glazing in terms of the total energy transmittance

with a total energy transmittance of g > 0.4 and sun protection glazing with a

• Sun protection device

Sun protection devices reduce the energy input into the building. The reduction will

The possibility of increased night ventilation usually has a favorable effect on the summer

• Passive cooling

According to the requirements of DIN 4108-2, cooling in the proof of the summer
