1. Derive the expression for resonance frequency, half-power frequencies in a series
RLC circuit and show that resonance frequency is the geometric mean of half
power frequencies.
2. A circuit consisting of a coil with inductance 10mH and resistance 20Ω is
connected in series with a capacitor and a generator with a rms voltage of 120 V.
Find:
(a) the value of the capacitance that causes the circuit to be in resonance at 15 kHz
(b) the current through the coil at resonance
(c) the Q of the circuit
(d) half power bandwidth of the circuit.

3. For the circuit shown in the circuit below, determine the current through the neutral
line.
4. Obtain the line currents and the load voltages in the three-phase circuit of the figure
shown below.

5. With a new circuit and phasor diagram, derive the expression of total real power
when power in a 3-phase system is measured using two-watt meter method. Also,
derive the expression of measurement of power in the same case.

6. a) List the basic parts of a Transformer and mention their purpose of presence in
the transformer

b) Mention the applications of the Transformers.

7. a) Explain the principle of operation of a DC motor and derive the expressions

for the back emf and torque generated in a DC motor.

8. a) Draw and Explain the characteristics of DC Shunt and DC Series motors.

b) List the applications of all types of DC Motors.
