2 About the Film
When we started working, we had many ideas to include in our project.
And of the ideas given, the theme of Family is the most appreciated by
us. And both members of my group have an interest in music, so
“Noise Family” will be a short 2D animated film that gives viewers a
gentle story about family love and music.

1 Problem Definition
1.1 Name of this Capstone Project
English name: Research and design on animated film “Noisy family”
In the winter of 2019, in a small family in America, we were introduced

2 Project Overview
2.1 Plot Summary

into a new song. The whole family participates in the music making
process. Together they enjoy music in the warm family atmosphere.

When we started working, we had many ideas to include in our project.

After the research process, we found that each generation, each

individual has different feelings about music. Everyone has a bias for

their own music because it is their favorite music that has been with

them for a long time, so when listening to music of other generations

they are not interested. That is why often parents cannot feel the

melodies in the music of the younger generation and vice versa.

Noise is unwanted, annoying sound to the listener. A good sound but

emitted at the wrong time, not in accordance with the listener's wishes

is emitted from the surrounding environment is also called noise.

Music can be the reason for family conflict, but it is music that will

solve that conflict. When everyone knows how to listen and care for

each other, that is a warm and happy family.

2.2.3 Inspiration
After choosing the idea of Family and music, based on inspiration from
other stories, we began to research, synthesize and discuss to come
up with the most reasonable story.

CoCo - A perfect movie about the theme of Family and music that
comes to mind first. The content of the story is about a boy Miguel
who has conflicts with his family about his passion for music and he
leaves on a big holiday. From there begins an exciting chain of events,
leading to an unexpected reunion and it is music that connects
everyone in their family together.

2.3.3 Background Design

The house before Christmas
When we were writing the story, we had details that the boy was

This is a middle-class family in Queens, USA, so we chose the interior

of the house to be inviting, modern, and a little bohemian. However,

each of our rooms will be designed in color, material and layout to suit

each person's personality. The parents' room will have soft, neutral

colors and materials. But the boy's room will have a more liberal and

dynamic style.

Bedroom Studio - Computer

About the boy, we can call him "Bedroom Producer" - the one who
makes music in his bedroom. Like Billie Eilish and her brother. They
"started their business" in a Bedroom Studio of only 20m2.

No need for hundreds of knobs from the Mixer panel, no need for
expensive equipment, Bedroom Studio can still do its job well. That is
"MAKING MUSIC". The equipment commonly found in a Bedroom
Studio is: Computer, DAW - Music making software, Monitor Ear, Audio
Interface, Mic, MIDI Controller, Studio Monitors. Besides, we also want
to add one more device that he uses, which is a turntable, which will
show more intensely his passion for music.

2.4 Tools of Development

In designing and animating the characters, we use AI, PS, AE to
design. These are all familiar tools to us because they are used a lot
during college. We use traditional animation method - Frame by frame
combined with keyframe this helps us to make better frames.

For sound design we use FL Studio and Adobe Premiere to match our
ability to create the best product.
