ARTWORK #1
1. Title or name of Artwork:
MAGPUPUKOT
2. Year created:
1957
3. Dimension:
91.5 x 139.5 cm. (36 x 54.9 in.)
4. Content:
Magpupukot or Pulling in the net is
an excellent example of his realist
renderings. Painting the lives of the fishing
community was one of Botong's favourite subjects. Angono, his hometown
where he was based, was a fishing village.
ARTWORK #2
1. Title or name of Artwork:
BAYANIHAN
2. Year created:
1962
3. Dimension:
34 x 50 cm. (13.4 x 19.7 in.)
4. Content:
The artwork entitled Bayanihan
literally means, being a bayan, and has
been used to refer to a “spirit of
communal unity and cooperation.” Although bayanihan can manifest itself
in many forms, it is probably most clearly and impressively displayed in the
old tradition of neighbors helping a relocating family by getting enough
volunteers to carry the whole house, and literally moving it to its new
location.

Name:
Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Birthdate:
February 25, 1841
Birthplace:
Limoges, France
Artwork:
1. Two Sisters (On the Terrace)

ARTWORK #1
1. Title or name of Artwork:
TWO SISTERS (ON THE TERRACE)
2. Year created:
1881
3. Dimension:
100.5 cm × 81 cm
4. Content:
Renoir depicted the radiance of
lovely young women on a warm and
beautiful day. The older girl, wearing the
female boater’s blue flannel, is posed in the center of the evocative
landscape backdrop of Chatou, a suburban town where the artist spent
much of the spring of 1881. She gazes absently beyond her younger
companion, who seems, in a charming visual conceit, to have just dashed
into the picture.
ARTWORK #2
1. Title or name of Artwork:
DANCE AT LE MOULIN DE LA GALETTE
2. Year created:
1876
3. Dimension:
131 cm × 175 cm
4. Content:
This painting is doubtless Renoir's
most important work of the mid 1870's and
was shown at the Impressionist exhibition in
1877. Though some of his friends appear in
the picture, Renoir's main aim was to
convey the vivacious and joyful atmosphere of this popular dance garden
on the Butte Montmartre. The study of the moving crowd, bathed in
natural and artificial light, is handled using vibrant, brightly coloured
brushstrokes.
ARTWORK #3
1. Title or name of Artwork:
PORTRAIT OF COCO
2. Year created:
1910
3. Dimension:
55 cm × 46.4 cm
4. Content:
This painting represents Claude as a
boy of nine. He wears regulation school
shorts and the cropped, tousled haircut of
an elementary school student. A child of Renoir’s old age; his growth is
chronicled in the plump and rosy style of the artist’s late pictures.
