I – OBJECTIVES
1. To visualize the addition of 2- digit numbers using mental techniques
2. To add numbers in different ways using improvised materials
3. To give the importance of planting flowers and trees

II- SUBJECT MATTER: ADDITION OF 2 DIGIT NUMBERS USING MENTAL

III- INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. REVIEW
The teacher will show flashcards of numbers from 1-20

2. MOTIVATION
The teacher will present a picture of two girls visiting in the garden to pick some flowers.
They are Beth and Betty. Ask: what have you seen in the picture? (girls picking flowers
in the garden) How do you feel if you are in the garden will full of flowers like this? How
can you help the environment to stay clean and beautiful? Is it important to have a
healthy place to live in?

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

A. Introduction
The teacher will present some flowers that the two girls picked from the garden. Let the
pupils count. Beth picked 11 roses and Betty picked 13 sunflowers. If they will put it
together in a flower vase how many flowers did they have in all

B. Teaching Modelling

The teacher together with the pupils will count the flowers and put it in a flower vase.
Ask: how many flowers in all? Another picture and improvised materials will be
presented in counting numbers.

C. Guided Practice
Group 1- with the use of bottle cups answer the given activity
Group 2- give the answer using the long and units model
Group 3- paste the picture that corresponds the number given

D. Independent Practice
Answer the given activity mentally to complete the number sentence

IV. EVALUATION
Have the pupils work on activity B on page 107
