Okay. Good
A. Reviewing or presenting the new lesson 3 minutes .
Before we formally start our next lesson for today, I would
like to ask who can recall our last topic?
Yes Angeline?
Our last topic is about rational algebraic expression sir
5x
3.
10 x +15 xy
B. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Students are listening.
Let’s discuss the 6 different properties.
10 minutes
In simplifying rational algebraic expression, it is important
that we know how to factor numbers and expressions. In
your elementary day, you have discussed prime
factorization. Prime factorization is the method of braking
down a number into its prime numbers. Prime numbers are
numbers which is greater than 1 and they only have two
factors, 1 and the number itself.
What are example of prime numbers? 2, 5,and 7 sir.
Very good. Those are some of the example of prime numbers.
For example.
3 2
6a b
2
12a b
( 2 )( 3 ) ( a )(a)(a)(b)(b)
=
(2)(2)(3)(a)(a)(b)
( 2 )( 3 ) ( a )( a)(a)(b)(b)
(2)(2)(3)(a)(a)(b)
Now, li List all the numbers and variables left in the expression. We have
6 a3 b 2
This is now the simplest form of .
12a 2 b
Remember that the expression is in its simplest form if the
only factor are 1 and itself.
D. Developing Mastery
3 minutes Answer:
Okay kindly answer this one. You can solve in your 2
4 x +12 x 4 ( x+3) 4
notebook. = =
x +6 x +9 (x +3)(x+ 3) ( x +3)
2
2
4 x +12 x
x2 +6 x +9
