DESIGN BRIEF

Produce architectural drawings for a residential development of a 3 bedroom bungalow.

Site location: any site of your choice within a popular housing estate, in Awka, Anambra State.

Site dimensions: 30m x 15m. (access road to be on the 15m face)

SPACE REQUIREMENTS.

 Entrance porch
 Ante room
 Sitting room
 Visitor’s toilet
 Guest bedroom (en-suite)
 Kitchen + storage
 Dining
 A master bedroom
 1no. bedroom (en-suite)
 Other ancillary spaces.

Note: kitchen and all toilets/bath must be furnished.

SHEETS REQUIRED.
 Introduction: design title, definition of terms, brief historical overview of housing in
Awka, and your site.
 Site Location: site location map, climatic analysis; climate, rainfall, relative humidity,
temperature, etc.
  Site selection criteria: site selection map showing minimum of 3 sites considered ,
discuss evaluation criteria; Statutory req, access, dev. logistics, traffic, site
quality/expansion potential, complementary facilities,etc and prepare evaluation table for
site selection.
 Selected site analysis: location description, access, plot size, topography, soil type,
vegetation, drainage pattern, public utilities / services.
 Site plan (observe ACTDA minimum setbacks, green and paved areas must be properly
defined)
 Floor plan
 Roof plan
 Sections (2nos)
 Elevations (North, south, east and west) with shadow casting.
 Schedules (Doors and windows)
 Details.

Sheet size: A2 paper size (594 x 420 landscapes) with complete title panel

Note: all working drawings must be fully dimensioned, with grid lines, cardinal points, and
detailed where necessary. No shadow casting for the plans.
Scale 1:75 for site plan, Scale 1:50 for floor plan, roof, elevations and sections. Scale 1:5, & 1:10
for details.
