Abstract

The researchers conducted this study to determine if and how Covid-19 affected

their academic performance. During the pandemic, students had to make changes to

their learning methods. We are to stay in our homes because Covid-19 was a deadly

virus, as a result, some were prone to laziness, which affected their academic

performance. They get to use their gadgets 24/7 while staying home, which can distract

them from their studies. The significance of this research is to learn and assist students

in determining how they can prevent Covid-19 from affecting the academic performance

of grade 9 students. One way to achieve this goal is to focus on and be motivated by

your studies. Demonstrate your interest in studying and have self-discipline in your

academics about your personal life.

We Researchers discovered that different types of distractions affect students

and their academic performances. Knowing how to balance their personal life with their

studies can assist them in maintaining high academic performance. You must avoid

distractions to maintain good academic performance. Attending online classes and

participating in school activities is significant, but don’t forget to have fun. Motivate

yourself to achieve high grades to make your parents and yourself proud. Consider

what will best help you step up. Look for your weaknesses and attempt to find ways to

overcome them to be healthy. The best thing to do is balance your personal life with

your academics. Use your dreams as motivation for why you are studying, and put

things in place that will help you achieve good academic performance.

We thank our Almighty God first for his guidance throughout this research and for

giving us the strength to work hard to make this research a success. Teachers, in

particular, did their best to guide us and instill confidence in us for this research. To our

classmates and friends who assisted us by making suggestions that were appropriate

this research and, more importantly, with our education. And, of course, to the

Theoretical Framework

The COVID-19 pandemic has had-far reaching on nearly every aspect of

society. COVID-19 has impacted teaching and learning nationally, with

several organizations conducting and reporting surveys in phases

throughout the pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers were

asked to transition to be online teaching with little time to prepare.

Researchers have found that while most teachers regularly use laptops or

computers in their personal and professional lives, teachers must not only

have technological expertise, but they also need to develop strategies for

building relationships with students and attending to their social, emotional,

and academic needs. The present study highlights the need for teachers

and school leaders to center Social justice and social equity concerns to

inform decision-making and effective communication With students and

families. School closures are detrimental to all students who need live

instructional time and additional Support to reach their academic potential,

but this is particularly important for the most vulnerable Student

populations.
Significance of the Study

The significance of the studying “The effect of Covid-19 to the academic

performance of the grade 9 students” is to know how the Covid-19 affected

their academic performance as well as to know what adjustments the

students needed to get used to and & make.

Students

The students will be able to know how the Covid-19 affected their academic

performance and what adjustments they had to get used to.

Future Researchers

Students who decide to conduct this type of research can use this as a guide with their

appropriate topic.

This study would help researchers in learning about the adjustments and the effect of

Covid-19 on student academic performance.


Definition of terms

To furthermore understand the study these are the terms:

Student

the student is the one learning new knowledge due to their online class, but

they often have problems on understanding the lessons that are taught

during online classes.

Covid-19/Corona Virus

the cause of the changes the students needed to get used to and also the

cause of the students not performing well on their academic performance

Academic Performance

is the measurement of the student’s achievement and learning capabilities,

this refers to the attained goals of students.
