INTRODUCTION

The Percentile for Grouped Data

Percentile divides the set of data into 100 equal parts. PERCENTILE scores are

frequently used to report results from national standardized test like NAT, NCAE & etc.

The percentile of grouped data is used to characterize values according to the

percentage below them. According to emathematics.net Percentiles are values that split

your data into percentages in the same way that quartiles split data into quartes. Each

percentile is referred to by the percentage with which it splits the data. so 10th

percentile i sthe value that is 10% on the way through the data.

On the same way A percentile (or a centile) is a measure used

in statistics indicating the value below which a given percentage of observations in a

group of observations falls. For example, the 20 th percentile is the value (or score)

below which 20% of the observations may be found. Similarly, 80% of the observations

are found above the 20th percentile. The term percentile and the related term percentile

rank are often used in the reporting of scores from norm-referenced tests. The 25th

percentile is also known as the first quartile (Q1), the 50th percentile as the median or

second quartile (Q2), and the 75th percentile as the third quartile (Q3). In general,

percentiles and quartiles are specific types of quantiles.

METHODOLOGY

Through asking our teacher for the Grades of Grade 10 Mars in Science. With

the use of all data given to us we were able to identify what method we will use. We

decided to use Percentile of Grouped Data to analyze and interpret the data that was

given to us. Furthermore, this paper contains the step by step process of finding,

completing and interpreting the data.

The researchers calculate the P 50, P70 and P90 of their 3rd Quarter grades. The

formula that we use for this problem is Percentile for Grouped Data, using this formula it

will get the overall percentage of student’s grade.

76-80 11 75.5 32

70-75 21 69.5 21
STEP 2: IDENTIFY THE PERCENTILE CLASS

STEP 3: PERFORM THE SOLUTION

In this data the researcher chose to find the P 50 P70 and P90. By finding this the

researcher must use the formula which is;

CONCLUSION

Through data that was given to us. We were able to find and make example of

the PERCENTILE OF GROUPED DATA. It is important that everyone knows

how to make and interpret data using quartile especially to people who wants to

take course related to statistics. Using the data and information we have found

the P50, P70 and P90 of the PERCENTILE.
